Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment UK has announced that they will bring both 'Kill Bill: Volume 1' and 'Kill Bill: Volume 2' to the UK on November 3rd. No technical specs or special features have been announced for either release, but you can expect similar releases to those released in the US last month.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment UK has announced that they will bring 'Wanted' to Blu-ray on December 1st in the UK, six weeks after the DVD release. No technical specs or special features have been announced at this time, but you can expect it to be similar to the US release, which is due to hit US stores on December 2nd.

Sharp Electronics has announced that they will bring their HDTV/Blu-ray combos to Japan next month, followed by a US release later this year, and a European release early next year. These DX-series LCD HDTVs will be available in sizes from 26-52 inches. Prices will range from $1,700-$4,900, which represents a premium of only $100 over similar non-Combo LCD HDTVs from the company.

Bandai Visual has announced that they will bring the anime 'Tales of the Abyss' to Blu-ray on February 20th in Japan, day-and-date with the DVD release. Little is known about this release, though we have been told that it will feature 1080p video accompanied by a 2.0 PCM soundtrack. Expect a similar release for the US around that same time.

According to reports, Panasonic is currently planning to release a Blu-ray Disc recorder in the US during the first half of 2009, making them the first consumer electronics company to announced such intentions. Since the format launched, Japan has been ripe with Blu-ray recorders, while other countries sat in wait. Recently, Australia received a Panasonic Blu-ray recorder, and it now appears the US will finally get one too.

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring the two Jim Carrey comedies 'Dumb and Dumber' and 'The Mask' to Blu-ray on December 9th. The Farrelly Brothers directed 'Dumb and Dumber' will be coming to Blu-ray as an unrated edition which includes six additional minutes of film. Technical specs for 'The Mask' have yet to be announced, but 'Dumb and Dumber' will receive a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

In an early announcement to retailers, Fox Home Entertainment has revealed a series of Blu-ray titles scheduled to hit store shelves in January of next year. On January 13th, along with the previously announced 'The Boondock Saints', Fox will release 'Drumline'. A week later, on January 20th, they will release 'Antwone Fisher' and 'Unfaithful'. One January 27th, the original 'The Pink Panther' will be released.

According to retailer reports, the Blu-ray version of 'Iron Man' sold 260,000 copies on its first day of sale - a record for the Blu-ray format - and has sold over 500,000 copies in its first week of sales, becoming the highest selling Blu-ray title of the year. Coming in a distant second on the Blu-ray sales chart was the Blu-ray release of 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'.

MVD Entertainment Group has announced that they will release their first three Blu-ray titles on October 28th, with more planned for 2009. No technical specs or special features have been announced for any of the first three films, which include 'Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter', 'Blackalicious: 420 Live in Seattle' and 'Cannibal Taboo'. No titles have been announced for 2009 at this time.
