Samsung are showing off another of their latest offerings at the CES. Mount this on the wall, add a TV or monitor and plug in the wireless sub into the power and you have a 2.1 Blu-ray set up with a virtual 5.1 surround sound effect. This may not be an ideal set up for many here, but it does mean that more players that get out into the market place. It is players in innovative configurations like this that are making Blu-ray mainstream.

For those that have smaller sized living rooms or kids bedrooms this would be ideal. This is a slot loading player so there are no problems trying to put a disc in a vertical tray.

The specifications are the same as the BD-P4600 which has been covered in a previous post here by J. C. Ribera in our News section, but a for a brief review of the player . Profile 2.0 (BD Live) can connect via wireless dongle to your home wireless router with 1GB of internal flash for persistent memory storage. All the new digital audio standards from Dolby and DTS are supported. The player also supports CD playback and can upscale DVD's. The Video out is all the Blu-ray standard outputs up to and including 1080p24 via HDMI 1.3.

The price is yet to be announced.

Availability in the first half of 2009.
