CES 2009: DEG Awards

Every year during CES, the Digital Entertainment Group, or, DEG, meet at an undisclosed location to celebrate the year's greatest achievements in digital entertainment. For those who might be unfamiliar with the DEG, the group is an industry lead trade association, made up of consumer electronics manufacturers and film studios, that promotes the growth of various means of delivering digital entertainment. DEG was founded in 1997 to help promote and spur the adoption of DVD. Their main focus currently is in promoting the growth of Blu-ray.
DEG honors retailers, hardware innovations as well as video releases. In the retailer category, Best Buy was honored as national hardware retailer of the year. In the regional hardware retailer category, New Jersey based Sixth Avenue Electronics walked away with the award. Amazon.com was honored as the software retailer of the year.
