The latest innovation from Moser Baer with BD-R 1x-6x enables customers to reach faster recording speeds; this will be warmly welcomed by computer enthusiasts and Blu-ray consumers, allowing for even faster backups of Blu-ray movie titles. Typically this will allow a 2-hour transmission equivalent of HD quality video and data to be recorded in less than 20 minutes. It seems that Blu-ray recording speeds are increasing at a faster pace than DVD-R speeds were developed. Blu-ray Recordable drives are far from being widely adopted due to the high price points (among other factors), and already, recordable disc manufacturers are reaching near the maximum theoretical speeds for Blu-ray Recordables. CES samples from the company included a 25 GB, 1-6x BD-R and a 25 GB 1-2x BD-RE.
