ARCAM are demonstrating their Blu-ray player here at the CES, which will come in 2 different models. The details are still being finalised, but here are the details that are currently known.
One player (no model numbers have been assigned yet) is designed to be connected to a receiver and have the following specifications:
Profile 2.0 (BD Live)
HDMI out
Composite video out
1 GB of persistent flash memory
USB slot for additional memory or downloading firmware etc.
Wired Ethernet
RS232 for ARCAM's custom install
Available sometime around June
The other player is going to be a fully featured player with the following specifications:
Profile 2.0 (BD Live)
HDMI out
Component video out
More advanced video processing for DVD upscaling
8 Channel output for 7.1 and configurable for 5.1
1 GB of persistent flash memory
USB slot for additional memory or downloading firmware etc.
Wired Ethernet
RS232 for ARCAM's custom install
Available sometime around the end of 2009
It is also safe to assume that they will both support all the high quality audio standards.
The model shown below was playing a Blu-ray disc, however it was a prototype. From a few other things that were mentioned, these players will be using Linux as their operating system. No price was mentioned but British quality does not come cheap.
