One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

In an early announcement to retailers, MGM has revealed that it will release a 25th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of David Lynch's cult crime thriller Blue Velvet (1986), starring Isabella Rossellini, Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, and Dennis Hopper. The confirmed release date set by the studio is November 8th.

Jean Renoir's French Cancan Heading to the UK

The British Film Institute has revealed that it will release a Dual Format Edition of Jean Renoir's legendary French Cancan (1954), starring Jean Gabin, Maria Felix, François Arnoul, and Franco Pastorino. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment. Street date is November 7th.

British distributors Eureka Entertainment have detailed their upcoming Dual Format Edition of acclaimed Japanese director Shôhei Imamura's The Ballad of Narayama (1983), starring Ken Ogata (Vengeance is Mine), Sumiko Sakamoto (The Pornographers), and Tonpei Hidari (Oar). The film will be available in shops across the UK on October 24th.

Cannibal Holocaust Blu-ray

British distributors Shameless Screen Entertainment are set to release on Blu-ray Ruggero Deodato's highly controversial Cannibal Holocaust (1980). According to a statement released by the distributors, director Deodato has revisited his classic of horror cinema to produce a brand new Director's Edit of the film especially for its High Definition debut on Blu-ray. Street dates is September 26th.

Cars 2 Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D (Updated)

Amazon is currently listing pre-orders for the Blu-ray release of Cars 2. The 12th Pixar film will be treated to Disney's 5-disc combo pack which includes a Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray version of the film, a Blu-ray disc for special features, and a DVD/digital copy. A standard Blu-ray/DVD combo pack is also up for pre-order. A release date of November 1st has been confirmed.

On October 4th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the 2011 action blockbuster Fast Five on Blu-ray. Word of the release comes from Amazon, which is currently accepting pre-orders for the film in a Blu-ray combo pack with DVD/digital copies. A SRP of 39.98 has been set.

Last Exit to Brooklyn Blu-ray

Amazon is currently listing for pre-order the Blu-ray debut of Last Exit to Brooklyn. The 1989 drama was helmed by German director Uli Edel and stars Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) and Stephen Lang (Avatar). A release date of October 10th has been set.

Ridley Scott to Revive Blade Runner

Ridley Scott has reportedly signed on to produce and direct another film based on his 1982 science fiction classic Blade Runner. According to a new press release, the future installment will be produced by Alcon Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. As of now, no script or release date has been finalized.

Underworld: Awakening Trailer

Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems have released the first trailer for Underworld: Awakening. The fourth installment of the horror action series has Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as Selene, who awakes from a 12 year coma-like state to find that humans have discovered the existence of both vampire and Lycan clans. The film will be released in 3D on January 20th, 2012.

Out in the Silence Blu-ray

In an early announcement to retailers, Garden Thieves Pictures has indicated a Blu-ray release of Out in the Silence this November. Directed by Joe Wilson, this documentary shows how Wilson's announcement of his same-sex marriage unsettled his hometown of Oil Town, Pennsylvania and united him with a local woman seeking justice for her gay teenage son. Out in the Silence is expected to street on November 8th.

Dragon Ball Z Level 1.2 Blu-ray

This December, FUNimation is planning to bring Dragon Ball Z Level 1.2 to Blu-ray. The 2-disc Blu-ray set represents the studio's ongoing and extensive digital restoration of the original Japanese anime. Dragon Ball Z Level 1.2 is expected to street on December 13th.

In an early retail announcement, Image Entertainment has revealed it is planning a Blu-ray of The Collector. The 1965 adaptation of John Fowles' debut novel, this film is a psychological thriller about a disturbed young man (Terence Stamp, Valkyrie) who kidnaps an art student (Samantha Eggar, The Phantom). The Collector is expected to street on November 8th.

Warner Bros. has revealed the much anticipated arrival of Looney Toons on Blu-ray. The Looney Tunes Platinum Collection: Volume One will feature 50 classic cartoons in a 3-disc set. Fans will have a choice between a standard digibook and an Ultimate Collector's Edition box set featuring a 52-page book and collectible materials. A release date of November 15th, 2011 has been set.

Image Entertainment has set the Malaysian adventure epic Clash of Empires (also known as The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines) for a Blu-ray release on September 6th. Set in 120 A.D., the film centers on a warrior tasked with escorting a Roman prince across a dangerous region of Han Dynasty Empire. A SRP of $29.97 has been set.

Blu-ray Sales, August 8-August 14: Rio Wings to the Top (Again)

For the week ending 8/14/11, Rio withstood an extraterrestrial challenge to remain perched on top of the Blu-ray and the overall sales charts. Jesse Eisenberg's Blu, had a strong debut for Blu-ray last week, as it generated 33% of total unit sales from the HD format. In week number two of release, Blu-ray's portion of the overall package media market for Rio dropped slightly to 29%.

Independent distributors IFC Films have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of South Korean director Na Hong-jin's Chugyeogja a.k.a The Chaser. In 2008, the film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
