German distributors Koch Entertainment have revealed that they are planning to release on BLu-ray a trio of classic films: Henry Hathaway's
Stadt der Verlorenen (1957), starring Sophia Loren and John Wayne; Sergio Corbucci's
Navajo Joe (1966), starring Burt Reynolds, Fernando Rey, and Aldo Sambrell; and Richard T. Heffron's
Futureworld - Das Land von übermorgen (1976), starring Yul Brynner and Peter Fonda.
Exact technical specs, special features and region coding status for these releases are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary street date set by the German distributors is December 2.
Navajo Joe
A band of outlaws, headed by a sullen leader named Duncan, sweeps across the country like the plague, destroying everything in its path, including an entire Indian village. The outlaws arrive in the town of Esperanza, where they are hired by a crooked doctor to hijack a bank train and share in the wealth. But the sole survivor from the Indian village, a renegade Navajo named Joe (Burt Reynolds), foils the plan by relocating the money. An irate Duncan holds an innocent Indian girl hostage until Joe surrenders; the brave citizens of Esperanza, under siege by the bandits, risk their lives to free Joe, who is their only hope of surviving. Joe once again takes on Duncan and his ruthless comrades with unforgettable vengeance.
Legend of the Lost
John Wayne is Joe January, a hard drinking, hard living guide. When Paul Bonnard (Rossano Brazzi) hires him to find his father and a legendary lost treasure, the two set out into the isolated wasteland of the North African desert. Joining them is Dita (Sophia Loren), a prostitute desperate to find a new life who comes between both men as they battle for survival.... and their souls.
Futureworld
A few years after the adult amusement park Westworld had to be closed when its androids ran amok, investigative reporters Chuck Browning and Tracy Ballard are sent there to find out what went wrong. Once on the remote island, they tour the facility with the creator of the park Duffy, who informs them that he has revamped the place into a new attraction called Futureworld which is fail safe. But in fact, Futureworld is a where Duffy plans to lure all of the world leaders and replace them with robotic clones so that he can achieve world domination.
