The Help Blu-ray

This December, Dreamworks and Walt Disney Home Entertainment will bring The Help to Blu-ray. An adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's bestselling novel, the late-summer box-office hit stars Emma Stone (Easy A) as Skeeter Phelan, a young woman who begins to research the lives of the African-American maids serving her and her friends' households.

As Skeeter's investigations - aided in large part by the strong-willed Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis, Doubt) and the outspoken Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer, Dinner for Schmucks) - grow in stature, the hardships they reveal threaten to unseat the accepted social norms of her 1960's Jackson, Mississippi community.

In addition to Stone, Davis, and Spencer, the film features an impressive supporting cast including Allison Janney (Life During Wartime), Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3), Sissy Spacek (Get Low), Cicely Tyson (Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman), and Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life).

Dreamworks and Disney are releasing The Help in two high-definition versions - a two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and a three-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital copy combo pack. Both versions present the film in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio sound track.

The discs also have a number of bonus supplements, such as:

• Two deleted scenes introduced by director Tate Taylor: "A Senator's Son" and "Keep On Walkin'"
• "The Living Proof" music video by Mary J. Blige
