One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Lionsgate is planning a 25th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn. Director Sam Raimi's sequel to his cult horror classic The Evil Dead, the film follows the increasingly surreal adventures of Ash (Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness) as he combats soul-devouring Deadites from an isolated cabin. The 25th Anniversary Edition of Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn is expected to street on November 15th.

Rurouni Kenshin: The Movie Blu-ray

The full-length follow-up to the popular anime series, this film focuses on the conflict between Himura Kenshin and Shigure Takimi that erupts in the aftermath of the war against the Tokugawa Shogunate. Kino Video, in association with Lorber Films, will release on Blu-ray Bertrand Blier's Les valseuses a.k.a Going Places (1974), starring Gérard Depardieu, Patrick Dewaere, Miou-Miou, Isabelle Huppert, and Jeanne Moreau. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary street date set by the studio is November 1.

El desafío a.k.a Legend of the Soldier (2010), starring Juan José Ballesta, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Vincent Perez and Nicolas Giraud. Independent distributors Olive Films will release on Blu-ray Rainer Werner Fassbinder's Despair - Eine Reise ins Licht (1978), starring Dirk Bogarde, Andréa Ferréol, and Klaus Löwitsch. In 1978, the film won three German Film Awards - Outstanding Individual Achievement: Direction, Outstanding Individual Achievement: Cinematography (Michael Ballhaus), and Outstanding Individual Achievement: Production Design (Rolf Zehetbauer).

Two Classic D.W. Griffith Films Heading to Blu-ray (Updated)

Independent distributors Kino Video have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray two legendary films by director D.W. Griffith: The Birth of a Nation (1915) and Way Down East (1920). The preliminary release dates for both releases is November 22.

Disney Preparing Diamond Edition Cinderella Blu-ray

The French release of The Lion King Blu-ray includes a trailer for Cinderella, which indicates the 1950 classic may soon be seeing a Blu-ray release. The clip reveals that Cinderella, which stands as the studio's 12th animated feature, will get Disney's Diamond Edition treatment. No release date has been set but expect to see this one in 2012.

Starz/Anchor Bay have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Georgian director Géla Babluani's 13 (2010), starring Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Alexander Skarsgård, Ray Winstone, and Ben Gazzara. 13 is a remake of director Babluani's shocking thriller 13 Tzameti (2005). Street date is November 8th.

Touch of Evil Blu-ray Officially Announced

Earlier today, independent British distributors Eureka Entertainment officially announced the Blu-ray release of Orson Welles' Touch Of Evil (1958). Often cited as one of the legendary director's greatest works, Touch of Evil will arrive on Blu-ray only as a special two-disc edition, and will be part of the Masters of Cinema Series.

Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis Blu-ray

After last week's Ain't It Cool tease, Kino International has officially announced on Facebook the Blu-ray release of Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis. Moroder's controversial edit of director Fritz Lang's silent-film masterpiece contains a pop-rock soundtrack from some of the 1980's biggest performing artists, including Pat Benatar and Freddie Mercury. Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis will street on November 15th following a limited U.S. theatrical run.

Green Lantern Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D (Updated)

Warner Bros. has detailed the release of the their 2011 summer superhero flick Green Lantern. The film, which stars Ryan Reynolds, will be available in both 3D and standard Blu-ray combo packs which have been priced at $40.99 and $35.99 respectively. A release date of October 14th, 2011 has been announced.

Blu-ray Sales, August 15-August 21: Priest is No. 1

For the week ending 08/21/11, Priest bowed on top of the Blu-ray sales chart, but only reached the No. 3 spot in the overall package media sales chart. Sony's vampire hunter did not enjoy box office success, the film was made with a production budget of $60 million and managed a disappointing domestic total of just over $29 million.

FUNimation will release Higanjima: Escape from Vampire Island on Blu-ray this Halloween season. This live-action adaptation of the popular horror manga stars Hideo Ishiguro (Gokusen: The Movie) as Akira, a young man who leads a group of friends to Higanjima in order to save his brother from the bloodthirsty creatures that inhabit the island. Higanjima: Escape from Vampire Island is expected to street on October 4th.

Vietnam in HD Blu-ray

This fall, A&E Entertainment is planning on bringing The History Channel's Vietnam in HD to Blu-ray. Done in a similar style to the network's acclaimed WWII in HD program, this new documentary miniseries uses a wealth of never-before-seen color footage and archival sound clips to tell the story of thirteen individuals directly impacted by the Vietnam War. Vietnam in HD is expected to street on November 15th.

A modern updating of Alexandre Dumas' classic novel, the film stars Heather Hemmens (The Dukes of Hazzard) as Alexandra D'Artagnan, an NSA officer who must turn to three spies for help when she learns of an impending attack on the President of the United States. 3 Musketeers is expected to street on October 25th.

In an early retail announcement, Zoe Records has revealed their plans to release Rush: Time Machine - Live In Cleveland on Blu-ray. A rock documentary covering the band's April 15th concert at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, Rush: Time Machine - Live In Cleveland includes some of Rush's biggest hits, such as "Tom Sawyer," "Limelight," and "Working Man." This season of the anime picks up two years after Hei and Yin's escape from the Syndicate; their story grows intertwined with a young Russian girl and her family, as well as with an ex-Foreign Affairs officer investigating the Syndicate.
