HBO Home Entertainment will bring The Josephine Baker Story to Blu-ray next year. Emmy-winner Lynn Whitfield (A Thin Line Between Love and Hate) stars as the title character, a dancer whose provocative performances garnered her international fame. As described in HBO's official synopsis, this biopic covers Baker's rags-to-riches story.
"Josephine Baker was born poor, but achieved fame and fortune through her sizzlingly exotic and erotic performances. Starting life on the American Vaudeville circuit, success took Josephine to Paris where her semi-nude dancing causes an international sensation. Josephine's life becomes a roller coaster ride of love and rejection from both her lovers and her country."
HBO has not yet detailed the technical specifications for the Blu-ray. However, it will feature the following supplementary material:
All-new audio commentary from Whitfield, writer Ron Hutchinson, and associate producer Alisa Taylor
The Josephine Baker Story is expected to street on January 17th, 2012.
