German distributors Koch Entertainment are set to release on Blu-ray Barbet Schroeder's (More, The Valley) Barfly (1987), starring Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway. The film, which was made by Cannon Films and Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Studios, is a semi-autobiography of legendary beat poet, writer, and anarchist Charles Bukowski. In 1987, it was nominated for the prestigious Palme d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival. Street date is December 2.
Director Schroeder's thriller Inju: The Beast in the Shadow is also out on Blu-ray in Germany. Unfortunately, it is not English-friendly.
In the U.S., Barfly is not currently available on Blu-ray. The DVD release, courtesy of Warner Bros., is also out of print.
