One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

British distributors Optimum Home Entertainment have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Ted Demme's romantic comedy Beautiful Girls, starring Mira Sorvino, Uma Thurman, Matt Dillon, Natalie Portman, Timothy Hutton, and Michael Rapaport. In 1996, the film won CEC Award for Best Screenplay at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Street date is October 31.

Sea Rex: Journey to a Prehistoric World Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D

Universal will bring the IMAX 3D adventure Sea Rex: Journey to a Historic World to Blu-ray on November 15th. The CGI heavy nature film focuses on sea creatures from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The release will include Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray versions on one BD-50 disc.

The Rocketeer: 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray (Updated)

Amazon is currently listing for pre-order Disney's 1991 cult favorite The Rocketeer. Joe Johnston's superhero adventure film, which stars Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly and Timothy Dalton, will be treated to a 20th Anniversary Edition release. A street date of December 13th and a SRP of $26.50 has been set.

Blu-ray Sales, August 22-August 28: Rio Returns to the Top

For the week ending 08/28/11, Rio, once again soared to the top of the Blu-ray sales chart. The blue macaw was a two-time Blu-ray weekly sales champ, before losing the No. 1 spot to Priest for week ending 08/21/11. Jesse Eisenberg's voiced Blu, generated 28% of its total home video sales in its fourth week of release from Blu-ray, a slight market share decrease from the 31% reported for its third week.

Lucasfilm Confirms Audio Change for Return of the Jedi Blu-ray

Lucasfilm has put an end to rumors circulating about the audio change on the upcoming Blu-ray edition of Return of the Jedi. According to the NY Times, a press representative from Lucasfilm confirmed that Darth Vader will in fact scream "No!" as he saves Luke from Emperor Palpatine during the film's climatic end battle.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has listed the 2006 Christmas comedy Deck the Halls for an October 4th release. The film stars Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito as two neighbors who start an out-of-control Christmas season rivalry. The release will be available as both a Blu-ray/DVD/digital copy combo pack and a Blu-ray only edition.

Twilight Time Acquires Columbia Library Titles for Blu-ray (Updated)

Twilight Time, a specialty label which focuses on releasing vintage films previously unavailable on DVD, has struck a deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment to license and release classic films from the Sony-owned Columbia Pictures library in high-definition Blu-ray editions. Fox announced today that they will release the 2011 romantic drama Water For Elephants on Blu-ray. The film, which stars Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon will hit retail in a Blu-ray/digital copy combo pack with a SRP of $39.99. A U.S. street date of November 1st has been set.

Titles in the Masters of Cinema Series Become Dual Format Editions

Following the recent fire at the Sony DADC facility in Enfield where all of Eureka Entertainment's back catalog stock was destroyed (along with that of over a hundred independent cinema and music labels), the studio will be combining many of the titles in the Masters of Cinema Series catalog that previously carried separate Blu-ray and DVD editions into Dual Format editions.

While Dreamworks and Walt Disney Pictures have not set the official home video release date and Blu-ray disc details for The Help, Amazon is currently offering a special $5 coupon to be used towards The Help's pre-order listing. This promotional discount only applies to the three-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack of the box office hit, and Amazon has not specified for how long the coupon will be available.

The comedy stars Jason Bateman (Juno), Charlie Day (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and Jason Sudekis (Going the Distance) as three best friends who conspire to murder their domineering bosses (Jennifer Aniston - Office Space, Kevin Spacey - The Negotiator, and Colin Farrell - In Bruges). German distributors Kinowelt have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of François Truffaut's Les deux Anglaises et le continent a.k.a Two English Girls (1971). The technical specs and region coding status are unknown at the moment, but the release is expected to be available for purchase in October.

The easiest way to judge how much a film impacted moviegoers is to measure how many years outside of its release it can be successfully referenced by primetime television. Good Will Hunting, which is out today on Blu-ray, just happens to be one of those films that can be endlessly referenced, and even people who were too young to see the theatrical presentation will get the joke.
