German distributors Universum Film have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Canadian director Larysa Kondracki's first feature film The Whistleblower (2010), starring Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and David Strathairn. Last year, the film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Street date is January 2.
Inspired by actual events, Kathy Bolkovac (Rachel Weisz) is a Nebraskan police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her expectations of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and intrigue amid a world of private contractors and multinational diplomatic doubletalk.
Note: A U.S. release date for The Whistleblower is yet to be revealed.
