Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

British distributors Eureka Entertainment have officially announced and detailed their upcoming Dual Format Edition of Japanese director Kenji Mizoguchi's Sansho Dayu a.k.a Sansho the Bailiff (1954). Also included on this release as a bonus is the Japanese director's Gion Bayashi a.k.a A Geisha (1953). Street date is April 23rd.

Director Steven Soderbergh's postmodern deconstruction of the modern spy thriller, Haywire stars MMA fighter Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, a black ops agent who embarks on a brutal revenge mission after her handler (Ewan McGregor, Beginners) frames her and tries to have her killed. After a strong showing at last night's Academy Awards ceremony - although maybe not quite as strong as Paramount Pictures had hoped - director Martin Scorsese's 3D epic Hugo arrives this week on Blu-ray. For a movie that is, ostensibly, a children's story, Hugo stands as Scorsese's most personal work; looking at the alienated title character immediately conjures up details from the director's early life.

After months of Oscar speculating, the showdown at the Academy Awards between frontrunners Hugo and The Artist ended in a draw: together, both films dominated the proceedings with five wins each. Hugo picked up many of the night's significant technical awards – including Best Cinematography for Robert Richardson – while The Artist won the coveted Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Picture statues.
