Karlovy Vary Festival Lineup Announced

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the largest event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, has officially announced the films that will compete for its coveted Crystal Globe Award. The festival, which runs from June 29 to July 7, will host eight world premieres and four international premieres.

One of the films to be screened at the festival is Italian director Marco Tullio Giordana's (The Best of Youth) Piazza Fontana: The Italian Conspiracy (Romanzo di una strage), about an unsolved terrorist attack in Milan in 1969.

Iranian director Ali Mosaffa will compete with his latest film, The Last Step, starring Leila Hatami of Oscar-winner A Separation.

Acclaimed Polish director Jan Jakub Kolski will compete with his new film, To Kill a Beaver (Zabić bobra), starring Eryk Lubos and Agnieszka Pawelkiewicz.

Also part of the official selection is Mexican director Lucia Carreras' Nos Vemos Papa (Nos vemos, papá). Carreras co-wrote the script for Cannes Camera d'Or winner Leap Year.
