Walt Disney Studios and MSN have just released the first theatrical trailer for the upcoming
Wreck-It Ralph. This animated comedy stars the voice of John C. Reilly (
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) as the title role, the main villain in an 8-bit,
Donkey Kong-style arcade game.
However, Ralph's fearsome demeanor belies his true nature: a gentle, compassionate character desperate to escape the stigma acquired from years of being the "bad guy." Much to the distress of his in-game nemesis Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer,
Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Ralph abandons his arcade console and travels inside the newest first-person shooter, where he hopes to reforge a new identity as a heroic warrior fighting evil aliens. Unfortunately, Ralph's presence interferes with the game's natural order and unleashes a deadly enemy on the arcade's digital inhabitants, one that the destructive Wreck-It Ralph might not have the strength to defeat.
In addition to Reilly and McBrayer, the film features an impressive vocal ensemble that includes Jack Angel (
A.I. Artificial Intelligence), Brandon T. Jackson (
Tropic Thunder), Sarah Silverman (
There's Something About Mary), and Jane Lynch (
The 40-Year-Old Virgin).
Wreck-It Ralph's scheduled U.S. release date is November 2nd.
