Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

One could argue that the biggest Blu-ray of the week is Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season. Since its premiere on HBO last year, Game of Thrones has enjoyed the kind of success that bolstered The Lord of the Rings Trilogy; strip away the program's attention-grabbing sex and violence, and Game of Thrones still excels at making a complex fantasy text accessible to a wide spectrum of viewers.

British distributors Odeon Entertainment have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of The First of the Few (1942), starring Leslie Howard, David Niven and Rosamund John. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is April 30th.

Blu-ray Sales, Feb. 20-26: Puss Climbs to The Top

For the week ending 02/26/2012, Dreamworks' Shrek-spinoff and recent Best Animated Feature nominee Puss in Boots climbed to the top slot on both the Blu-ray and the overall package media sales charts. The film enjoyed a strong Blu-ray debut, especially considering the fact that it streeted on 02/24 and not on 02/21, and it made over 40% of its total package unit sales through the HD format.

Two John Wayne Films Exclusively at Walmart

According to information from Walmart, the retail giant will exclusively offer two movies from the western genre produced by 20th Century Fox Entertainment: Raoul Walsh's The Big Trail (1930), starring John Wayne and Marguerite Churchill, and John Huston's The Barbarian and the Geisha (1958), starring John Wayne, Eiko Ando and Sam Jaffe. The French branch of Paramount Pictures has revealed that it is planning a Blu-ray release of director Billy Wilder's Sabrina (1954), starring Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and William Holden. Exact technical specs, region coding status and supplemental features to be included on this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary release date set by the studio is May 9th.

Director Steven Spielberg's beloved adventure series stars Harrison Ford (Blade Runner) as the title character, a globe-trotting archaeologist whose perpetual search for rare and mysterious treasures puts him in great danger. Marvel Studios has just released the official theatrical trailer for The Avengers. Firefly creator Joss Whedon helms this action blockbuster, which finds a team of superheroes preparing for battle against fallen Asgardian god Loki (Tom Hiddleston, Wallander). Atlantic Technology Debuts Downward Firing Subwoofer

Atlantic Technology has introduced a new down-firing version of one of its most popular subwoofers to provide greater placement flexibility. Eureka Entertainment have revealed that they are planning to release a Dula Format Edition of Ro.Go.Pa.G. (1963). This classic film is comprised of four segments, each written and directed by a different helmer: Roberto Rossellini, Jean-Luc Godard, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Ugo Gregoretti. A preliminary release date is yet to be announced.
