One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Train of Life Blu-ray

German distributors Sunfilm Entertainment have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of Romanian director Radu Mihaileanu's Train de vie a.k.a Train of Life. In 1998, the film won FIPRESCI Prize for Best First Film and Anicaflash Prize at the Venice Film Festival. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is October 6th.

Manhunter Blu-ray

This September, MGM will release Manhunter on Blu-ray. Previously available as part of The Hannibal Lecter Collection, director Michael Mann's adaptation Red Dragon was the first film to depict Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter (Brian Cox, Troy); in Manhunter, Lecter advises FBI profiler Will Graham (William Petersen, To Live and Die in L.A.) during the investigation of "The Tooth Fairy" serial killer. Manhunter streets on September 13th.

A Serbian Film Blu-ray in October

Independent distributors Invincible Pictures have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray Srdjan Spasojevic's highly controversial Srpski film a.k.a A Serbian Film (2010). Technical specs and special features are yet to be announced, but the preliminary release date set by the distributor is October 25th.

A Better Tomorrow Trilogy Blu-ray

Hong Kong-based distributors Kam & Ronson Enterprises will release on Blu-ray three cult action films: John Woo's A Better Tomorrow (1986) and A Better Tomorrow II (1987) and Tsui Hark's A Better Tomorrow III (1989). The three films will arrive in shops on August 5th.

This October, Phase 4 Films will release the black comedy Lucky on Blu-ray. The film stars Colin Hanks (King Kong) as a serial killer-in-training who, after winning the lottery, begins to aggressively pursue his life-long crush (Ari Graynor, Youth in Revolt). Co-starring Jeffrey Tambor (There's Something About Mary), Ann-Margaret (Any Given Sunday), and Mimi Rogers (Lost in Space), Lucky streets on October 11th.

A thriller highlighting Parkour acrobatics, the film stars Sean Faris (Never Back Down) as a young man forced to freerun throughout Cleveland in order to stop a criminal madman (Danny Dyer, Severance). Three Colors Trilogy Heading to the UK

Independent British distributors Artificial Eye are set to release on Blu-ray legendary Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors Trilogy (Blue, White and Red), which explores the virtues of the French flag. The acclaimed trilogy has won a number of international awards, including Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Street date is October 24th.

George Lucas' Red Tails Trailer

The first trailer for Lucasfilm's WWII drama Red Tails has gone online. The film, which is directed by Anthony Hemingway and produced by George Lucas, tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first all black fighter pilot squadron to fly for the U.S. A release date of January 20th, 2012 has been set.

UFC: Ultimate Matt Hughes Blu-ray

This September, Starz and Anchor Bay Entertainment will bring UFC: Ultimate Matt Hughes to Blu-ray. A feature-length retrospective of Hughes' exploits in the world of Ultimate Fighting, this 2-disc Blu-ray set is timed to coincide with the live Pay-Per-View bout between Hughes and Diego Sanchez on September 24. UFC: Ultimate Matt Hughes streets on September 20th.

Straw Dogs Blu-ray

Timed to coincide with the theatrical release of director Rod Lurie's remake, MGM Home Entertainment will bring the original Straw Dogs to Blu-ray this September. Directed by Sam Peckinpah (The Wild Bunch), this 1971 thriller examines the damaging effects of psychological and physical brutality on an American mathematician (Dustin Hoffman, The Graduate) and his British wife (Susan George, Mandingo). Straw Dogs streets on September 6th.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment are set to release Peter Howitt's comedy Johnny English (2003), starring Rowan Atkinson, John Malkovich, Tasha de Vasconcelos, Ben Miller, and Greg Wise. Street date is September 19th. Shortly after, on October 7th, the studio will also release theatrically Johnny English Reborn (2011).

The UK branch of Universal Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that it will release Asif Kapadia's documentary Senna (2010). The film focuses on the monumental life and tragic death of legendary Brazilian motor-racing champion, Ayrton Senna. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary street date announced by the studio is October 10th.

Sony Pictures Sees Stronger Sales

Sony Pictures has reported $53M in operating profit, up 50.4% vs. the same period last year. Strong sales for The Green Hornet, Battle: Los Angeles, and Just Go With It, as well as strong revenue from Indian television ads are credited for the impressive performance.

Scarface Special Event Theatrical Screenings

This September, Fox Home Entertainment will release LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace on Blu-ray. An animated adventure set in the world of the popular LEGO Star Wars video games, the film follows Yoda, C-3PO, and R2-D2 as they try to protect a group of Jedi Younglings during a Sith attack. A Walmart exclusive, LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace streets on September 16th.

German distributors Universum Film are set to release on Blu-ray acclaimed director Jean-Jacques Annaud's L'amant a.k.a The Lover (1992), starring Jane March and Tony Leung Ka Fai. Currently, it is unknown whether the release will contain the film's unrated version. Street date is October 28th.

Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals Blu-ray in the Works

Independent distributors Shriek Show are apparently working on a Blu-ray release of cult director Joe D'Amato's Emanuelle e gli ultimi cannibali a.k.a Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977), starring Laura Gemser, Gabriele Tinti, and Nieves Navarro. According to early reports, the Blu-ray release will have the English-dubbed version of the film. Street date is October 25th.

Blu-ray Sales, July 18-July 24: Rango Repeats at No.1

For the week ending 7/24/11, Rango remained on top of the Blu-ray and the overall sales charts. The Johnny Depp starrer, had a strong debut for Blu-ray last week, as it generated 46% of total unit sales from the HD format. In week number two of release, Blu-ray's portion of the overall package media market for Rango dropped slightly to 42%.

Kino Video are preparing a Blu-ray release of Chinese director Lu Chuan's powerful City of Life and Death. The film chronicles the notorious Nangking Massacre, during which approximately 300 000 soldiers and civilians were killed. In 2009, the film won Golden Seashell and Best Cinematography Awards at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nevermind, Nirvana's sophomore album, Universal Music will release Deluxe and Super Deluxe reissues of the legendary album. Only 10,000 copies of the limited, numbered Super Deluxe reissue will be available in North America, and another 30,000 for the rest of the world. Street date is September 20th.
