One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown Blu-rays (Updated)

This October, two of Miramax's most beloved catalog titles will make their Blu-ray debuts: Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and its 1997 followup Jackie Brown. Tarantino's award-winning crime dramas have long been unavailable on Blu-ray in the United States; Lionsgate will update them for the high-def format on October 4th, 2011.

The Ledge Blu-ray

MPI Media Group will release The Ledge on Blu-ray this September. Director Matthew Chapman's drama follows the conflict between an atheist (Charlie Hunnam, TV's Sons of Anarchy) and a fundamentalist Christian (Patrick Wilson, Watchmen). The film co-stars Liv Tyler (The Strangers) and Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow). The Ledge streets on September 27th.

Masterpiece Classic Blu-rays

In October, PBS Home Entertainment will release three installments of their "Masterpiece Classic" series on Blu-ray - Jane Austen's Mansfield Park & Northanger Abbey and Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. These literary adaptations feature such actors as Billie Piper (Showtime's "Secret Diary of a Call Girl"), Carey Mulligan (An Education), and Tom Hardy (Inception). All three "Masterpiece Classic" entries street individually on October 11th.

A filmed adaptation of Athol Fugard's play, "Master Harold"...and The Boys dramatizes the relationship between white South African Hally (Freddie Highmore, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and his black caretaker Sam (Ving Rhames, Dawn of the Dead). "Master Harold"...and The Boys streets on October 11th.

Lionsgate has confirmed that it will release the 1994 Miramax action film, The Crow on Blu-ray. The comic book adaptation, which stars Brandon Lee, will see an October 18th, 2011 release. A SRP of $19.99 has been set.

Candyman Heading to the UK

The UK branch of Universal Studios has revealed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of Bernard Rose's popular horror film Candyman (1992), starring Tony Todd, Virginia Madsen, Xander Berkeley, and Vanessa Williams. The film is based on a story by Bernard Rose and master of horror Clive Barker (Hellraiser). Street date is October 3.

In an early announcement to retailers, the Canadian branch of MGM has revealed that it plans to release on Blu-ray Sam Peckinpah's legendary Straw Dogs (1971), starring Dustin Hoffman, Susan George, and Peter Vaughan. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary street date announced by the studio is September 6th.

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has revealed at Comic-Con today that in addition to the already announced enhanced port of Tekken Tag Tournament from PS2 in HD, Tekken Hybrid will receive a playable prologue of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The disc also has the CG animated movie, Tekken: Blood Vengance.

An Academy Award-nominee for Best Foreign Film at the 2011 Oscars, Incendies tells the story of two siblings who discover their hidden family history following the death of their mother. In an early announcement to retailers, independent distributors Icarus Films have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Patricio Guzman's documentary Nostalgia for the Light (2010). In 2010, the film won Best Documentary Grand Prix at the European Film Awards and Francois Chalais Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is September 13th.

Amazon is currently listing for pre-order all four seasons of the sci-fi television series Farscape. The Australian-American production, which ran from 1999 to 2003, will be available on Blu-ray in both individual seasons and a Complete Series set. A release date of November 15th has been set.

Steven Spielberg Confirms Jurassic Park 4

Speaking at a Comic Con panel in promotion of his upcoming film, The Adventures of Tintin, Steven Spielberg revealed that the long rumored Jurassic Park 4 is finally gearing up for production. The director was quoted as saying that a story was in place and a release could be two or three years away.

Korean distributors Content Zone are set to release on Blu-ray Kim Jee-Woon's A Bittersweet Life (2005), starring (Lee Byung-Hun, I Saw the Devil), (Shin Min-A, The Beast and the Beauty), and (Kim Yeong-Cheol, My Father). Two Blu-ray editions will be available for purchase: a Limited Coffee Book Edition and Standard Edition. Both will include the Director's Cut of the film. Street date is August 30th.

Alliance Films Acquires Lionsgate's Maple Pictures

Alliance Films will take over Lionsgate's Canadian distributor Maple Pictures. The deal, which is to be finalized soon, is said to be worth $38.5 million. The acquisition gives the Alliance group access to Maple's film library. The Alliance group will also distribute Lionsgate's motion picture films and television programing in Canada.

British distributors Eureka Entertainment have revealed that they are preparing a Dual Format Edition of Japanese director Masaki Kobayashi's Harakiri (1962), starring Tatsuya Nakadai (Kagemusha), Akira Ishihama (The Human Condition I: No Greater Love), Shima Iwashita (Ballad of Orin), and Tetsurô Tanba (You Only Live Twice). In 1963, the film won the Jury Special Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

FUNimation Set November Date for Dragon Ball Z Blu-ray

FUNimation have set a date for Dragon Ball Z Level 1.1 and released details of the forthcoming boxset. The new double disc set includes all new 1080p video, painstakingly digitally transferred from the original 16mm film and digitally remastered Dolby® TrueHD audio. The disc comes out November 8th, and will be available at all major retailers.
