One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Phantom of the Opera (Original) Blu-ray

On November 21, independent British distributors Park Circus will release on Blu-ray Rupert Julian's horror masterpiece The Phantom of the Opera. The Blu-ray release will feature the 1925 and 1929 versions of the films, the notorious Bal Masque sequence in two-strip Technicolor and other scenes hand tinted, as well as a brand new score by The Alloy Orchestra.

The Complete Humphrey Jennings - Volume One: The First Days Blu-ray

For the first time ever, the BFI is collecting together all of Humphrey Jennings' remarkable films, including his wartime masterpieces Listen to Britain, Fires Were Started and A Diary for Timothy, newly remastering them to High Definition and releasing them across three volumes. Each volume will be a Dual Format Edition and will include essential special features, including alternative versions and collaborative works.

The Guns of Navarone Blu-ray

Sony Pictures is planning a Blu-ray release of The Guns of Navarone. Based on Alistair MacLean's novel, the film stars Gregory Peck (The Omen), Anthony Quinn (Last Action Hero), and David Niven (Casino Royale) as a team of Allied soldiers on a top-secret mission to destroy a German gun encampment on the Greek island of Navarone. Retail announcements indicate a street date of October 18th.

Bolt, G-FORCE, Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons 3D Blu-rays

Disney has announced that they are giving four titles the Blu-ray 3D treatment on November 8th. These include the CG animated features Bolt (2008), Chicken Little, G-FORCE and Meet the Robinsons. Each release will come as a 3-disc combo pack with Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD versions of the film. The combo pack for Bolt will also include an additional disc for a digital copy.

Best Buy apparently continues to secure timed exclusives on Blu-ray. On September 25th, the retailer giant will have on its shelves three new catalog titles from Paramount Pictures: David Zucker's The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), John Hughes' Planes, Trains & Automobiles and Jim Abrahams and David Zucker's Airplane!.

Home Entertainment Revenue at Paramount Up 33%

Paramount's parent company Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) has announced double-digit gains for the fiscal 2011 third quarter ended June 30, 2011. According to a report issued by the company, home entertainment revenues increased 33% to $331 million, though theatrical revenues were down 9% to $588 million.

Takashi Miike's Imprint Comes to Blu-ray

Japanese director Takashi Miike's highly controversial Imprint, part of the popular Masters of Horror series, is set to be released on Blu-ray in Germany, courtesy of Splendid Entertainment. Early reports indicate that this release will contain the film's uncut version. Street date is October 28th.

Pound of Flesh Blu-ray

Independent distributors Cult Epics have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of Tamar Simon Hoffs' Pound of Flesh (2010), starring Malcolm McDowell, Angus Macfadyen, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Timothy Bottoms, and Dee Wallace. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary release date set by the distributors is November 15th.

Warner Bros. has plans to release a standard, movie only edition of their beloved adventure comedy The Goonies. The release will omit all of the collectible items packaged on the 25th Anniversary box set and retail for $14.98. A release date of October 18th has been set.

DEG: Blu-ray spending up more than 10%

Earlier today, the Digital Entertainment Group, a Los Angeles-based, industry funded nonprofit corporation that advocates and promotes the many consumer benefits associated with various entertainment products, including both physical and digital media on a variety of platforms, announced that Blu-ray spending is up more than 10% in the first half of 2011.
