One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

This drama features Jessica Alba (Sin City) as Mona Gray, a math teacher who tries to help her students through their own personal crises. An Invisible Sign co-stars Bailee Madison (Brothers) and J.K. Simmons (Burn After Reading) and is expected to street on November 1st.

In an early retail announcement, Starz and Anchor Bay Entertainment have revealed that they will bring Father of Invention to Blu-ray. This dramedy stars Kevin Spacey (L.A. Confidential) as Robert Axle, a disgraced inventor offered a chance at redemption if he can reconnect with his estranged daughter. Father of Invention is expected to street on October 25th.

Trespass Blu-ray (Updated)

Millennium Media Entertainment is planning a Blu-ray release of the thriller Trespass this November. Directed by Joel Schumacher (Tigerland), the film stars Nicolas Cage (Face/Off) and Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole) as a couple held hostage by two brutal criminals (Cam Gigandet, Priest, and Ben Mendelsohn, Animal Kingdom). Trespass is expected to street on November 1st.

The film features the popular rock group performing fifteen of their biggest hits, including "If You Leave Me Now," "Saturday in the Park," and "Feelin' Stronger Every Day." This weekend's The Help, based on the acclaimed and bestselling novel, is poised to become a genuine summer sleeper hit. It's stacked with solid performances (from lady actors, no less!), particularly from Emma Stone and Viola Davis, and the man in charge of wrangling the lasses is Tate Taylor (no relation) whose own story of involvement with "The Help" is almost as compelling as the movie itself.

This November, the Syfy cable network's Being Human: The Complete First Season will arrive on Blu-ray. A re-vamp of the BBC series, Being Human details the relationship that forms between a ghost (Meaghan Rath, Lost and Delirious), a vampire (Sam Witwer, The Mist), and a werewolf (Sam Huntington, Superman Returns) who room together. Early reports indicate a street date of November 15th for Being Human: The Complete First Season.

Criterion Teases The Rules of the Game Blu-ray

In a recent newsletter, the Criterion Collection revealed that it will be bringing Jean Renoir's 1939 masterpiece The Rules of the Game to Blu-ray. While the exact release date and disc specifications are still unknown, Criterion has confirmed the film as part of its November slate and that the studio will replace one supplement and create new packaging for the Blu-ray.

Bleach The Movie: Fade to Black Blu-ray

Warner Bros. and Viz Media will bring the 2008 anime feature Bleach The Movie: Fade to Black to Blu-ray on November 15th. The 3rd film to be based off the Japanese manga follows the soul reaper Ichigo as he attempts to rescue a girl from a mysterious intruder. A SRP of $24.98 has been set.

MPI has announced the Blu-ray release of Mr. Nice. The 2010 crime film stars Rhys Ifans as Howard Marks, a famous Welsh drug smuggler who was imprisoned for marijuana trafficking. A release date of October 11th and a SRP of $34.98 has been set.

Blu-ray Sales, August 1-August 7: Rio Soars to the Top

For the week ending August 7, Rio flew to the top of the Blu-ray sales chart. The blue parrot was a box office sensation, produced with a $90 million budget, the film finished its worldwide theatrical run with an impressive total of $479 million. Overall sales of package media for the year are down 16% from 2010; although, Blu-ray sales are up 10%.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Blu-ray

Warner Bros. has revealed that it will give the webseries, Mortal Kombat: Legacy a Blu-ray release on November 8th. The series, which stemmed from a low budget YouTube production by Kevin Tancharoen will have its nine episodes brought to high definition with a SRP of $19.98.

Band of Brothers/The Pacific: Special Edition Gift Set Blu-ray

HBO has announced a new Blu-ray release combining the popular WWII miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific into a Special Edition Gift Set. The repackaged edition will include an all new documentary titled He Has Seen War featuring interviews from Easy Company and 1st Division Marine veterans. A release date of November 8th has been set.

Warner Bros. has confirmed the Blu-ray release of John Landis' 1986 comedy Three Amigos. The HBO Films production stars Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short as three silent film actors who mistakenly believe that they have been cast as the stars of a film set in a small Mexican village. A release date of November 22, 2011 has been set.

While no official announcement been made, the unmistakable previews hint that official word will be made when Criterion unveils their November line-up next week.

Weekend Box Office: "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" Rises

Despite the franchise's nearly impenetrable appeal (five films in the initial go-around, an animated series, a hugely successful Tim Burton remake, and so on), Rise of the Planet of the Apes was far from a surefire hit. And yet it managed to conquer the weekend box office, with a surprisingly strong $54.8 million dollars. Rise, indeed.

French distributors Gaumont have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray three films directed by Ettore Scola: Il viaggio di Capitan Fracassa a.k.a Captain Fracassa's Journey (1989), Che ora č? a.k.a What Time Is It? (1989), and Splendor (1989). The preliminary information supplied by the distributors indicates that all three will be English-friendly. Street date is October 19th.
