This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Texas-based Well Go USA and Tribeca Film have teamed up and acquired the North American distribution rights to David M. Rosenthal's thriller A Single Shot (2013), starring Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, Ted Levine, and Kelly Reilly. The film is set to arrive in theaters across the United States on September 20th.

French label Carlotta Films will release on Blu-ray legendary Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni's Le Amiche a.k.a Femmes entre elles (1955), starring Eleonora Rossi Drago, Valentina Cortese, Yvonne Furneaux, Gabriele Ferzetti, and Franco Fabrizi. The release will be available for purchase in France on September 18th.

Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Deluxe Edition, which collects Parts 1 & 2 of the well-received animated adaptation of Frank Miller's landmark limited comic book series of the same name. The Deluxe Edition set arrives on Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack on October 8th.
