Eagle Rock Entertainment will add four titles to its Blu-ray catalog in September:
Mike & The Mechanics: Live at Shepherds Bush, London,
UB40: Live At Montreux,
Neil Sedaka: The Show Goes On - Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and
Willy Deville: Live in the Lowlands. All four titles will be available for purchase on September 10th.
In 2004, Mike & The Mechanics (originally formed in 1985 by Mike Rutherford, of Genesis fame) reunited for the first time since the death of band member Paul Young (who passed away in 2000), and embarked on a European tour. The band, which released their eponymous debut album in 1985 and skyrocketed into success with the immediate hit "Silent Running," performs all their greatest hits on Live At Shepherds Bush, London. This includes "The Living Years," the US #1 single that remains one of the most played songs of all time on FM radio. Bonus features include all of their classic original promo videos, and interviews with Mike Rutherford and Paul Carrack.
Neil Sedaka has weaved a tapestry of musical excellence spanning the fifties to the present day. Live At The Royal Albert Hall, which is his first ever Blu-ray, features Sedaka, one of the most successful songwriters and performers of all time, entrancing a live audience with charismatic renditions of his beloved hits. "Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen," "Oh Carol," "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do," "Solitaire" and many more timeless tunes resonate through the grandeur of London's Royal Albert Hall. Sedaka also duets with Tony Christie on "Is This The Way to Amarillo." As a bonus, the Blu-ray includes Neil being interviewed by Paul Gambaccini.
Hitmakers on both sides of the Atlantic, UB40 have entranced fans worldwide, and garnered 14 Top 10 albums, with their groove-laden reggae-pop sound. Only three UK acts (The Beatles, Queen, and The Shadows) can claim more hit singles. Live At Montreux 2002 was their only performance to date at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival, but it's loaded with the goods: "One In Ten," "Red Red Wine," "Don't Break My Heart," "Homely Girl," "Cherry Oh Baby," and many more.
Finally, the artistry of the late Willy DeVille is on display in high-def on Live In The Lowlands. Coming to prominence in the late seventies with Mink DeVille, Willy's diverse, eclectic sound continued to thrill fans when he went solo in the eighties. He earned an Oscar nomination for "Storybook Love," a collaboration with Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits for the 1987 film The Princess Bride. This 2005 Amsterdam concert, in support of his Crow Jane Alley album, is awash in his instantly recognizable voice, cool charisma, and one-of-a-kind style. "Spanish Stroll," "Slave To Love," "Come A Little Bit Closer," and more -- all performed with the romantic flair and unique panache that only DeVille could deliver. The Blu-ray includes a bonus interview with Willy.
