Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of Oliver Stone's
The Untold History of the United States, the 10-episode documentary series that premiered on Showtime in November 2012. From World War II to the 21st century presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama, each chapter examines a different era in recent American history.
Untold History arrives on Blu-ray on October 15th.
Official Synopsis: As Americans, do we really know and understand our shared and complicated history? How do we recall the small details and forgotten players that influenced some of the biggest events from America's past? Will our children actually get the whole story from reading history books? And how will it affect the future of our country? The in-depth, surprising, and riveting series, co-written by Stone with Peter Kuznick and Matt Graham, was directed and narrated by Stone.
Stone and Peter Kuznick, esteemed American University Associate Professor of History, and director of the Nuclear Studies Institute, co-authored the
companion book to the series, which presents our country's unlearned history, drawing on archival findings from around the world and recently declassified material. The documentary looks back at human events that at the time went under-reported, but that crucially shaped America's unique and complex history throughout the 20th century; covering the time period from the atomic bombing of Japan to the Cold War, through the fall of Communism to the events of today.
Beside the ten feature episodes, the 4-disc Blu-ray release will boast more than three and a half hours of bonus material, including two unaired chapters and a new companion documentary featuring Stone and author, philosopher, activist, writer, socialist leader and editor Tariq Ali, who worked with Stone on the documentary
