Dracula (1958) 4K Blu-ray

Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring 'The Diary of Anne Frank: 50th Anniversary Edition', 'Garfield's Pet Force', and 'Burn Notice: Season Two' to Blu-ray on June 16th, day-and-date with the DVD release. As these are early announcements, no technical specs have been announced at this time. Though, you can expect Fox to utilize 1080p AVC video accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack for these releases.

Tai Seng has announced that they will bring 'Connected' to Blu-ray on April 28th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Films which fit into the "romantic comedy" genre typically favor one quality or the other. They are either romantic films with comedic highlights, or conversely, comedies with a romantic story. It is a rare film, such as 'The Princess Bride' that can gently walk the line between "romantic" and "comedy" and still deliver one of the most memorable films from the 80's.

Criterion has announced that they will bring the 1957 classic film 'The Seventh Seal' to Blu-ray on June 16th, day-and-date with the DVD re-release. Additionally, they will bring Alain Resnais' 'Last Year at Marienbad' to Blu-ray a week later, on June 23rd, day-and-date with the DVD release. Both titles will be presented in 1080p video accompanied by PCM mono soundtracks.

This digibook release appears to be identical to the first disc of the 'Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology' which was released last week, meaning a 1080p VC-1 video presentation accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

The British Film Institute (BFI) has announced that they will bring Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'The Decameron', 'The Canterbury Tales', and 'Arabian Nights' to Blu-ray on April 27th in the UK, day-and-date with the DVD release. Additionally, they will bring the 'Nighthawks / Strip Jack - Nighthawks 2' double feature to Blu-ray on March 30th, day-and-date with the DVD release.

Monster's Inc and Rounders Delayed (Updated)

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that they are delaying the upcoming Blu-ray releases of both 'Monster's Inc' and 'Rounders: 10th Anniversary Edition'. When asked for comment, studio representatives confirmed the delay of 'Rounders', but could provide no new release date. 'Monster's Inc.' has been delayed until November, likely to coincide with the Blu-ray release of 'Up'.

Our good friend Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits got the inside scoop on a few upcoming titles Paramount is currently working for Blu-ray release (along with a few rumored release dates). First up is the Oscar-award winning 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' which is rumored to be released on May 5th (retailers were alerted to a pre-order last week), day-and-date with the DVD release. No other details are known at this time.
