Harman Kardon Announces First Blu-ray Player

Harman Kardon has announced that they will release their first Blu-ray Disc player, the Harman Kardon BDP-1. The player will be BD-Live and BonusView compliant, and feature support for all Blu-ray approved audio codecs, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Additonally, the player will support CD, DVD, and MP3 playback.

Dragon, director of consumer and field marketing for Harman Consumer, commented, "The Harman Kardon brand has a rich history of delivering the right combination of power, performance, flexibility and ease of use in the home. The introduction of our first Blu-ray Disc player balances our portfolio of home products, which have always featured great sound but, now, thanks to the BDP 1, offer crystal-clear video playback."
The player will match existing Harman Kardon home theater equipment, and will be available later this month for a MSRP of $499.
