Dracula (1958) 4K Blu-ray

Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Waltz with Bashir Announced for UK Blu-ray Release

Artificial Eye has announced that they will bring the Academy Awards-nominated film 'Waltz with Bashir' to Blu-ray in the UK on March 30th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This foreign language film will be presented in 1080p video accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Million Dollar Mutts Coming to Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the direct-to-video film 'Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts' to Blu-ray on May 19th, day-and-date with the DVD release. The title, which will come with both the Blu-ray and DVD of the film, will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

New Panasonic Blu-ray Players Due in April

Panasonic has announced that their upcoming Blu-ray players - the Panasonic DMP-BD60 and DMP-BD80 - are set to be released in April. Both players will feature Panasonic's new Viera Cast technology which allows the players to stream video from Amazon, YouTube, Bloomberg, and many others.

Fox Reveals Blu-ray Releases for 24, Predator 2 and The Siege

In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has revealed that they will release '24: Season 7' to Blu-ray on May 19th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Additionally, they have revealed that they will bring the catalog titles 'Predator 2' and 'The Siege' to Blu-ray on June 9th.

Warner Permanently Discounts Blu-ray Titles

For the first time, Warner Home Video will permanently discount 16 of their Blu-ray titles by 43% to a new SRP of $16.99. With retailers typically discounting off SRP by as much as 40%, you can expect to be able to grab these titles for $10-12). The entire list of titles, which will be repriced on April 7th, has not been fully detailed, but what we do know we have listed after the jump.

P Coming to Blu-ray

Commercial Films has announced that they will bring Paul Spurrier's horror film 'P' to Blu-ray on April 1st as a Limited Edition release. Recently remasted under the director's supervision, the film will be presented in 1080p video accompanied by a 5.1 Dolby Digital soundtrack.

Woodstock Blu-ray Pushed Up to June Release

Warner Home Video has announced that they have bumped up the release date of 'Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music Directors Cut 40th Anniversary Ultimate Collectors Edition' to June 9th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This box set will feature two hours extra hours of performances from 13 groups who played at the legendary festival, but never made it onto the film, along with a reprint of Life magazine commemorative issue, a lucite lenticular display of festival photos, assorted memorabilia and an iron-on patch with the classic bird-and-guitar Woodstock emblem.

Bride Wars Detailed for Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the technical specs and special features for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Bride Wars', which is due to hit store shelves on April 28th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This three-disc set, which will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack, will come with a digital and DVD copy of the film.

X-Men Trilogy Coming to the UK on Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'The X-Men Trilogy Blu-Ray Collection' to Blu-ray in the UK on April 20th. Both technical specs (1080p AVC video accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack) and special features appear to be identical to the previously announced US version of this release.

MGM Home Entertainment in conjunction with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have announced that they will bring 'Valkyrie' to Blu-ray on May 19th, day-and-date with the DVD release. For this Tom Cruise film, video will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Defiance Coming to Blu-ray in UK

Momentum Pictures has announced that they will bring the Daniel Craig film 'Defiance' to Blu-ray on May 18th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have not been released at this time, but previous releases from the studio have received 1080p VC-1 and DTS-HD Master Audio treatment.

Cine Asia has announced that they will bring Jackie Chan's multi-period, action-comedy 'The Myth' to Blu-ray on May 4th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have not been announced at this time, though you can expect a 1080p video transfer along with a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Ridley Scott Talks Blu-ray

In anticipation of the upcoming UK Blu-ray release of 'Body of Lies', which is due to hit store shelves on March 30th, director Ridley Scott sat down to talk about what he expects viewers to gain from buying the Blu-ray version of his film over the DVD. What he promises viewers is "vision", a clarity in the picture not available on the DVD.

LGMB: Amazon Kicks off New Blu-ray Sale

Those of you tracking deals in our New Deals Tracker may have noticed that Amazon did quite a bit of discounting over the past few hours in preparation for their latest sale. From now until March 22nd, 372 Blu-ray titles have been reduced from their normal, everyday low price.

Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring the Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau comedy 'Grumpy Old Men' to Blu-ray on July 7th. Technical specs have not announced at this time, though you can expect the typical 1080p VC-1 and Dolby TrueHD treatment from the studio. Additionally, technical specs have yet to be announced, though we do know there will be a digital copy included.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'Lost: The Complete First Season' and 'Lost: The Complete 2nd Season: The Extended Experience' to Blu-ray on June 16th. While there have been no Blu-ray exclusive features announced at this time, all extras from the previous DVD releases will be included.

Cinema Guild Prepares for Blu-ray Releases

The Cinema Guild has announced that they recently started a Home Video division and will soon begin to release Blu-ray movies, some from the New Yorker Home Video line. A leading distributor of documentary, foreign and independent film, The Cinema Guild was founded by over 40 years ago by award-winning producers Philip and Mary-Ann Hobel.

Blu-ray Sales on the Rise in Japan

According to a recent report from GfK Marketing Services Japan Ltd (GfK Japan), sales of Blu-ray Disc recorders increased by over 800% last year in Japan. In 2007, only 160,000 Blu-ray Disc recorders were sold in the country, but that number jumped to 1.34 Million units in 2008, representing a huge uptake in adoption of the high definition format.
