Los Angeles-based marketing company Trailer Park has created an application that can convert select mobile phones (iPhone, Blackberry and T-Mobile's Android devices) into remote controls for Blu-ray players, especially for access to BD-Live content, incorporating the keyboard function from the phones instead of the laborious toggle function found on most BD remotes.
Joel Johnston, COO with Trailer Park, said: “If you have ever tried to access BD Live with a standard remote you want to pull your hair out.” He also said the company is working with director Michael Bay on BD Live elements for an unnamed fourth-quarter theatrical release. What fourth-quarter theatrical release directed by Michael Bay that could be, is anyone's guess.
Typically, additional content created by Trailer Park, and other companies, for studio releases is either included in the disc or placed on a studio server for access via BD Live or the Internet.

The X Files: I Want to Believe', which allows viewers to search every episode of the entire nine-season TV series — and both feature films — utilizing keyword searches, characters, topics, storylines and TV show dates.
“All the studios that we know are still very much interested in [BD Live] and are constantly looking for ideas associated with interactivity with the consumer,” Johnston said. “It's a way for studios to stay in contact with their customers with updatable content in an entertaining way.”
