Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring 'The Pink Panther 2' to Blu-ray in the UK on June 22nd, day-and-date with the DVD release. The sequel to the 2006 remake, this film starring Steve Martin will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

National Geographic in conjunction with Warner Home Video have announced that they will bring 'Rhino Rescue' to Blu-ray on July 28th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring 'NBA Champions 2008-2009' to Blu-ray on July 14th, day-and-date with the DVD release. While the NBA season is still in full swing, Warner is preparing for another NBA Blu-ray release (last year they released 'NBA Champions 2007-2008: Boston Celtics' to celebrate the Celtics championship run).

When 'Slumdog Millionaire' was released theatrically, it was pegged as the "feel-good film of the year" by many who reviewed it, but most probably didn't realize how true that assessment actually was. Originally financed by Warner Independent Pictures, the film was headed straight to video if it not for a swift move by Fox Searchlight to help finance the film and gain US theatrical rights. Almost $300M later, Fox is releasing this 2008 winner for Best Picture on Blu-ray today.

A&E Home Video has released a video detailing the process and results of their frame-by-frame restoration of the 16mm source for 'Pride and Prejudice', which is due to be released for Blu-ray on April 14th. As the video shows (after the jump), the results are impressive and one can only applaud A&E for the accomplishment.

Netflix subscribers got a nastygram in their inboxes today when they received notice that, beginning April 27th, they would be charged anywhere from $1 to $9 extra a month for access to Blu-ray titles. Those who opt for the $4.99/mo plan (1 movie at a time/2 per month max) will pay an extra $1, while those who enjoy the $47.99/mo plan (8 movies at a time/unlimited per month) pay a hefty $9 over their normal monthly fee.

The five surviving members of the British comedy group Monty Python are set to come together once again for a six-part documentary - 'Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer's Cut)' - to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Flying Circus episode (which aired on October 5th, 1969). John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin are all set to contribute, with 'Evita' director Alan Parker on tap to direct.

Blue Underground has announced that they will bring the Venice Film Festival Grand Special Jury Prize winning film 'Bad Boy Bubby' to Blu-ray on July 28th. While arguably one of the most popular film series in history, some fans felt that the James Bond films had recently drifted too far from the series' explosive beginings under the helm of Sean Connery. But when 'Casino Royale' was released with fast-rising action star Daniel Craig in control, there were immediate declarations of a return to the glory days. It was somewhat of a shocker that, while a box office success, the newest Bond film 'Quantum of Solace' wasn't as highly regarded as its acclaimed predecessor.

Every year, the UK Office for National Statistics revises the "inflation basket" in order to determine the country's inflation rate based on popular goods. This year, they have added Blu-ray Discs as one of the monitored goods in response to the increasing popularity of the format. Every month, they will monitor prices of Blu-ray Disc along with small, individual yogurt, hardwood flooring, and watch battery replacement.
