Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Independent distributors Music Box Films have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray French director René Féret's Nannerl, la soeur de Mozart a.k.a Mozart's Sister (2010), starring Marie Féret, Marc Barbé (L'ennemi intime), Delphine Chuillot (Pola X), and David Moreau (Le héros de la famille). The preliminary release date set by the distributors is January 24th.

AMC Theatres Confirms The Dark Knight Rises IMAX Prologue

After much speculation, the AMC Theaters chain confirmed that Warner Brothers' six-minute The Dark Knight Rises prologue will debut in IMAX this December. The extended look at director Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated superhero epic will precede Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol at 70mm IMAX screens beginning December 16th.

Concern Over Upcoming West Side Story Blu-ray

Film historian and archivist Robert Harris has detailed a flaw in the upcoming West Side Story Blu-ray; what was originally a dissolve transition from Saul Bass' skyline pattern to the main title now appears as a fade-to-black/fade-in transition. Harris noted this mistake in the UK Blu-ray release, and Hollywood Elsewhere's Jeffrey Wells has confirmed its existence in the North American version that streets on November 15th.

Anchor Bay Distributing Fox Catalog Titles on Blu-ray

In an early retail announcement, it appears that Anchor Bay Home Entertainment will be distributing a number of Twentieth Century Fox catalog titles on Blu-ray. The preliminary release list includes such diverse titles as Lawrence Kasdan's Grand Canyon, Michael Ritchie's The Scout, and Henry Selick's live-action/animation hybrid Monkeybone. These films are expected to street next January.

In an early retail announcement, Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has indicated plans to bring Texas Killing Fields to Blu-ray next year. Writer/director Ami Canaan Mann's procedural thriller tells the story of two police officers (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Watchmen, and Sam Worthington, Last Night) who team up to hunt a serial killer prowling the Texas bayous. Texas Killing Fields is expected to street on January 31st, 2012.

Directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen), this Academy Award-winning adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos' novel Les liaisons dangereuses stars John Malkovich (Rounders) as Sébastien de Valmont, a bored aristocrat who plots to destroy the reputation of the virtuous Madame de Tourvel (Michelle Pfeiffer, Batman Returns). Dangerous Liaisons streets on February 7th, 2012.
