Studio Ghibli Retrospective at New York City's IFC Center (Updated)

From December 16th through January 12th, GKIDS and the IFC Center in New York City will host a comprehensive Studio Ghibli retrospective. The programming showcases fifteen classic animated pictures from the venerated animation studio; additionally, most of these films are unavailable through North American Blu-ray editions.

This New York retrospective marks the beginning of a series of similar Studio Ghibli events that will screen throughout North America in 2012.

Two viewing options are available for all fifteen selections - a Japanese w/English subtitles version as well as an English dubbed version. As an added bonus, each film has received a brand new 35mm print.

Update: As an addendum to the retrospective, GKIDS is sponsoring a special screening of Studio Ghibli's newest film, The Secret World of Arrietty at New York's Symphony Space. Co-written by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by his protégé Hiromasa Yonebayashi, this adventure focuses on young Arrietty, a miniature-sized human whose family lives beneath the floorboards of an English-style country house.
