Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Sunset Limited Blu-ray

Next year, HBO Home Entertainment will bring The Sunset Limited to Blu-ray. Academy Award-winner Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive) directs this adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy's play and also stars as a college professor whose suicide attempt is thwarted by a deeply religious ex-convict (Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson, Pulp Fiction). The Sunset Limited is expected to street on February 7th, 2012.

Written and directed by Rod Lurie (The Contender), this remake of director Sam Peckinpah's controversial thriller stars James Marsden (The Notebook) and Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns) as a young couple who suffer increasingly vicious harassment when they move to a small Southern town. Briggs' memoir This Dark World and the directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated actress Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air), this drama focuses on a woman who begins to question her deeply ingrained religious beliefs. Independent distributors Kino Lorber have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Mexican director Olallo Rubio's This Is Not a Movie (2011), starring Edward Furlong (Tony Kaye's American History X) and Peter Coyote (Roman Polanski's Bitter Moon). The film, which is independently financed with Mexican funds, features a brand new score by rock legend Slash (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver). Street date is February 7th.

Independent British distributors High Fliers Films have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Canadian director Larysa Kondracki's first feature film The Whistleblower (2010), starring Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and David Strathairn. Last year, the film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Street date is January 16th.

Drafthouse Films, the distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse, has made a distribution deal with Image Entertainment. The independent label has also acquired the North American rights for Michael R. Roskam's Rundskop a.k.a Bullhead (2011) and Mikkel Nørgaard's wild comedy Klovn: The Movie a.k.a Clown (2010).

Separate adaptations of Richard Matheson's classic horror novel I Am Legend, the two films feature Charlton Heston (Ben-Hur) and Will Smith (Independence Day) as Robert Neville, a doctor fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic United States. This double feature streets on December 6th.
