Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

American maverick actor-writer-director John Cassavetes' touching and brutal Husbands (1970) is heading back to cinemas. Recently restored by Sony Pictures, the film will be re-released theatrically in the UK from 28 September, opening at BFI Southbank.

The Angels' Share Blu-ray

British label Entertainment One has revealed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of director Ken Loach's latest film The Angels' Share (2012), starring Paul Brannigan, John Henshaw and Gary Maitland. Earlier this year, the film won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The preliminary release date set by the label is September 24th.

Official Teaser Trailer for Alex Cross

Summit Entertainment and the Internet Movie Database have revealed the first teaser trailer for Alex Cross. The title character (Tyler Perry, Diary of a Mad Black Woman) is a police detective specializing in criminal pathology, and this new film finds him squaring off against a serial killer (Matthew Fox, Lost) with a personal interest in Cross. Alex Cross' scheduled U.S. release date is October 19th.

Upcoming Disney Catalog Releases for 2012 (Updated)

The scheduled films span across Disney's different distribution branches, and while the studio has previously hinted at certain titles - such as The Color of Money, Ransom, The Rescuers, and The Aristocats - today's announcement sheds light on many more future Blu-ray options. This summer, Anchor Bay Home Entertainment will bring two of the Halloween sequels to Blu-ray - Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. As their respective titles indicate, these features deal with the grisly exploits of the serial killer made iconic in director John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic. Next month, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring Boss: Season One to Blu-ray. Created by Farhad Safinia (Apocalypto), this Starz Original program stars Golden Globe-winner Kelsey Grammer (X-Men: The Last Stand) as Chicago mayor Tom Kane, who presides over the city using his legislative power for ethically questionable means. Individual Blu-rays for The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions

This summer, New Line and Warner Home Entertainment will bring the individual extended editions of the three films in director Peter Jackson's Academy Award-winning The Lord of the Rings Trilogy to Blu-ray. These releases mark the first time the extended cuts have been available separately on the HD format. The Lord of the Rings extended Blu-ray editions street on August 28th.

Sony and Panasonic Team Up For OLED Production

Sony and Panasonic have joined forces to develop next-generation TV sets using OLED technology. Earlier on Monday, the two companies announced in a statement that they will share technologies - as they try to stay competitive with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., the current leader in TV sales.

The second collaboration between director Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands) and actor Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) takes inspiration from the life and work of Edward D.
