British actor Jamie Bell (
Billy Elliot) and Danish star Connie Nielsen (
The Devil's Advocate) are the latest additions to the cast of
Nymphomaniac, controversial director Lars von Trier's latest project. The film begins shooting on Tuesday in Germany.
Other actors that are on board with this project are Shia LaBeouf (
Transformers: Dark of the Moon), Charlotte Gainsbourg (
21 Grams), Stellan Skarsgard (
Good Will Hunting), and Nicolas Bro (
Reconstruction). Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe have also been invited, but the film's producer apparently could not confirm if they will indeed have roles in it.
The controversial Danish director will shoot
Nymphomaniac as a two-part feature. Two versions of the film, hardcore and softcore, will be available for distribution in 2013.
According to the producers of
Nymphomaniac the sex scenes in the film will be shot "with the help of body doubles and visual effects".
Note: In the U.S., Lars von Trier's latest film,
Melancholia, is currently available on Blu-ray via Magnolia Pictures, while the controversial
Antichrist is part of the Criterion Collection.
