WGM Films has revealed a new still from director Alberto Arvelo Mendoza's highly anticipated new film Libertador (2013). The film will chronicle the life of Venezuelan military leader Simón Bolívar, who led the Latin American independence movement.
Bolívar will be played by rising star Édgar Ramírez, who played the famous terrorist Carlos "The Jackal" in French director Olivier Assayas' highly acclaimed Carlos. Spanish actress María Valverde (Melissa P.) will play María Teresa Bolívar.
Libertador is scripted by Timothy Sexton (Children of Men) and lensed by award winning cinematographer Xavi Giménez (The Machinist, Agora). It is produced by Winfried Hammacher and Ana Loehnert.
Libertador, the largest independent Hispanic American production to date, will reach U.S. theaters in 2013.
