Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

In September, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring The Cabin in the Woods to Blu-ray. Created by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) and Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), this postmodern horror comedy focuses on a group of young people whose vacation at a secluded mountain cabin suddenly turns into a brutal fight for survival. The Cabin in the Woods streets on September 18th.

Restored Firemen's Ball Screened in Karlovy Vary

A new restoration of acclaimed director Milos Forman's Hori, ma panenko a.k.a Firemen's Ball has been screened at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The film was restored with participation of KVIFF, the National Film Archive of Prague and Czech Movies Foundation.

Junkhearts Wins Best Film Award in Moscow

3D FILM SERIES at George Eastman House this Week

At George Eastman House's Dryden Theatre in Rochester, NY they're having a 3D Week this coming week, including an appearance by 3-D expert Bob Furmanek which will be on hand to show rarely seen stereoscopic shorts screened in restored dual-strip 35mm Polaroid 3-D, and a print of Robot Monster (1953). Also shown during the 3D week will be Man in the Dark (1953), Dial M For Murder (1954) and Inferno (1953).

This adaptation of the Matthew Quick novel focuses on a former high school teacher (Bradley Cooper, Limitless) who strikes up an unexpected relationship with a troubled young widow (Jennifer Lawrence, The Hunger Games). Blu-ray Sales, June 18-24: Sherlock Holmes Maintains Top Totals

For the week ending on June 24th, Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows maintained the top sales figures on both the Blu-ray and overall media rankings. The film's first two weeks on home media platforms have suggested a strong second life, and Warner Bros. can add its small-screen earnings on top of the Robert Downey Jr.-vehicle's domestic theatrical gross of $187 million.
