Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Anchor Bay-UK have officially announced that they will release two films starring action star Chuck Norris: Paul Aaron's A Force of One (1979) and Eric Karson's The Octagon (1980). Both films will be available for purchase online and in shops across the United Kingdom on August 6th.

German distributors Koch Media have officially announced that they will release on Blu-ray Australian director Peter Weir's The Last Wave a.k.a Black Rain (1977), starring Richard Chamberlain, Olivia Hamnett and David Gulpilil. The Blu-ray will be available for purchase in Germany on July 27th.

Independent distributors Raro Video U.S. have revealed that they are preparing a number of titles for Blu-ray due out in the second half of the year: in Septenber, Giorgio Ferroni's The Night of the Devils (1972), in October, Francesco Rossi's Many Wars Ago (1970), in November, Roberto Rossellini's Il Generale della Rovere (1959), and in December, The Fernando Di Leo Crime Collection Volume 2.

First International Trailer for Taken 2

Twentieth Century Fox and Yahoo Movies have just revealed the first international trailer for Taken 2. Director Olivier Megaton's follow-up to the 2009 sleeper hit Taken, this film finds star Liam Neeson (The Grey) reprising his role as Bryan Mills, a fearsome ex-CIA operative. Taken 2's U.S. release date is scheduled for October 5th.

Blu-ray Sales, June 11-17: Sherlock Holmes Deduces the Top Spot

For the week ending on June 17th, Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows unseated the high-profile Disney release John Carter from the top position on both the Blu-ray and overall media rankings. When it premiered in theaters last year, this big-budget sequel did not make the box-office impact that its 2009 predecessor had; the Robert Downey Jr.-vehicle only managed a modest domestic gross of $187 million.

Director Steven Spielberg's classic adventure stars Roy Scheider (The French Connection) as a small-town police chief who has to defeat a man-eating great white shark. Titles include the 1950 adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac, director George Cukor's classic noir A Double Life, Sion Sono's Love Exposure, and Orson Welles' interpretation of Macbeth. Sony Pictures Classics to Distribute Pedro Almodovar's New Film

Sony Pictures Classics has secured the North American distribution rights for Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's So Excited, starring Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, and Lola Dueñas. Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas and Paz Vega will also contribute to the project. Shooting will begin in July.
