Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Twentieth Century Studios plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Michael Bay's The Rock (1996) with a new combo pack release, which is expected to arrive on the market before the end of the year.

This week, Lionsgate is re-issuing the 1990 sci-fi-epic Total Recall on Blu-ray. While the release seems timed simply to capitalize on Sony's upcoming Total Recall remake, director Paul Verhoeven uses the Philip K. Dick short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" as a springboard for a still-exciting, fast-paced blockbuster that also asks some provocative questions about the nature of dreams.

Strippers vs. Werewolves Blu-ray

In September, Well Go USA will bring Strippers vs. Werewolves to Blu-ray. Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Steven Berkoff (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and Barbara Nedeljakova (Hostel) star in this tongue-in-cheek horror-thriller about a group of strippers forced into bloody conflict with a werewolf pack. Strippers vs. Werewolves streets on September 25th.

Independent British distributors Eureka Entertainment have detailed their upcoming Dual Format edition of Pier Paolo Pasolini's Oedipus Rex (1967), starring Silvana Mangano, Franco Citti and Alida Valli. CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution are reacting to consumer complaints about audio anomalies on the new box set of Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1. A replacement program has been instituted and replacement discs will be sent to consumers free of charge.

Chico & Rita Blu-ray

In September, Cinedigm Entertainment and New Video Digital will bring Chico & Rita to Blu-ray. This 2012 Academy Award-nominee for Best Animated Feature uses the turbulent relationship of the title characters to take an intimate look at the shifting musical cultures of the latter half of the twentieth century. Chico & Rita is expected to street on September 18th.

Next month, Kino Lorber will bring Post Mortem to Blu-ray. Director Pablo Larraín's 2010 follow-up to his acclaimed Tony Manero centers on the darkly comic exploits of a Chilean state employee (Alfredo Castro, Tony Manero) trying to endure the 1973 military coup. Post Mortem is expected to street on August 21st.

Three Jean-Claude Van Damme Films Heading to Blu-ray

20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray three action films starring Jean-Claude Van Damme: Albert Pyun's Cyborg (1989), Deran Sarafian's Death Warrant (1990), and Sheldon Lettich's Double Impact (1991). The preliminary release date for all three films is October 2.

Two Versions of The Postman Always Rings Twice on Blu-ray

In November, Warner Home Entertainment will bring two versions of the film noir classic The Postman Always Rings Twice to Blu-ray - the 1946 original and the 1981 remake. These adaptations of James M. Cain's influential crime novel focus on how the torrid affair between a drifter and a restaurant owner's amoral wife leads to psychological rot and murder. Both interpretations street on November 13th.
