Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Twentieth Century Fox and Apple have just revealed the first trailer for Life of Pi. For his newest film, Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) has adapted Yann Martel's bestselling novel of the same name, a surreal, allegorical adventure story about Pi Patel (newcomer Suraj Sharma), a young man shipwrecked in the Pacific Ocean. Life of Pi's scheduled U.S. release date is November 21st.

DreamWorks Animation Acquires Classic Media

DreamWorks Animation announced today that it will acquire Classic Media for $155 million from Boomerang Media Holdings. Through Classic Media, the studio will have access to such family titles as "Casper the Friendly Ghost,", "Rocky & Bullwinkle", "Lassie" and "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle." With the new acquisition, DreamWorks Animation gets over 450 titles and more than 6,100 episodes of animated and live-action programming.
