Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Dead Poets Society 4K Blu-ray

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

The Hangover Trilogy Blu-ray

In addition to a standlone BD/DVD/UltraViolet combo pack, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is releasing The Hangover Part III as part of a Hangover Trilogy box set, which includes all previously released and upcoming special features, as well as an exclusive documentary that covers all three films. The Hangover Trilogy arrives on Blu-ray on December 3rd, two months after The Hangover Part III makes its October 8th Blu-ray debut.

An Unfinished Life & Paid in Full Blu-rays

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of director Lasse Hallström's An Unfinished Life, starring Robert Redford, Jennifer Lopez, Morgan Freeman and Josh Lucas, and director Charles Stone III's Paid in Full, which stars Wood Harris, Regina Hall and Mekhi Phifer. Both Miramax-produced dramas street on September 24th.

Blu-ray Sales, August 19-25: Epic Overtakes Olympus for Number One

For the week that ended on August 25th, Twentieth Century Fox's Epic topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts. An animated adaptation of William Joyce's The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs, Epic managed a surprisingly robust theatrical run despite mediocre critical notices; the CGI adventure grossed over $253 million worldwide on top of a projected $100 million budget.

Upcoming Olive Films Releases

Independent distributors Olive Films have revealed that they are preparing a number of titles to be released on Blu-ray in 2014. Amongst them are: legendary director Abel Gance's J'accuse! (1938), Billy Wilder's recently restored Fedora (1978), Rainer Werner Fassbinder's The Stationmaster's Wife (1977), Max Ophüls' Caught (1949), and Leo McCarey's Good Sam (1948).

BFI to Release Restored 'The Epic of Everest' on Blu-ray

The British Film Institute has revealed that it plans to release a Dual Format Edition of J.B.L. Noel's recently restored The Epic of Everest (1924). The preliminary release date set by the studio is January 20th.

Scream Factory to Release Witchboard and Night of the Demons

Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has revealed that it plans to bring to Blu-ray two cult horror films: Kevin Tenney's Witchboard and Night of the Demons (1988). The two releases are expected to arrive on the U.S. market in early 2014.

Disney Acquires Distribution Rights to Miyazaki's The Wind Rises

Disney has announced that it has acquired the U.S. theatrical distribution rights to Studio Ghibli filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki's newest project, The Wind Rises, which was a major success when it debuted earlier this summer in Japan. The critically acclaimed animated film is expected to arrive in U.S. theaters in 2014, with a Blu-ray release to follow.
