Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Blu-ray Sales: August 9-15: Project Hail Mary Fends Off Mars Attacks! in First Week

For the week that ended on August 15th, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts in its debut. Second place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mars Attacks!, which was released on 4K UHD this week, while third place went to Warner's own Mortal Kombat II in its third week.

This Week on Blu-ray: August 24-30

For the week of August 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will release Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on Blu-ray and 4K UHD. Other new releases include Disclosure Day from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, The Sheep Detectives from Alliance Entertainment, Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story from Shudder, Carolina Caroline from Magnolia Home Entertainment, Reacher: Season Three from Paramount Home Media Distribution, Father Mother Sister Brother from MUBI, Power Ballad from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, The Breadwinner from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and The Audacity: Season 1 from AMC Studios.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Four Classic Henri Verneuil Films Heading to Blu-ray

EuropaCorp and Twentieth Century Fox will release on Blu-ray four classic films directed by Henri Verneuil: Un Singe en hiver a.k.a A Monkey in Winter (1962), Le President (1961), Le clan des Siciliens a.k.a The Sicilian Clan (1969), and Mélodie en sous-sol a.k.a Any Number Can Win (1963). All four titles will arrive on the French market in November.

Ben Affleck Cast as the Next Batman

Warner Bros. has cast its next Batman: Ben Affleck. According to the release, "Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder's as-yet-untitled project, bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director's vision of their universe, which he established in Man of Steel." The film is slated to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

Independent distributors Drafthouse Films have acquired the North American distribution rights to Japanese director Sion Sono's latest film Jigoku de naze warui a.k.a Why Don't You Play in Hell? (2013), starring Hiroki Hasegawa, Gen Hoshino, and Akihiro Kitamura. The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival later this month.

The Cinema Guild announced today the acquisition of Digital and Non-Theatrical U.S. rights to "Agnes Varda From Here To There," a new five-part documentary series directed by Agnes Varda. The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey of The Cinema Guild and Cecilia Rose of Cine-Tamaris.

For the week that ended on August 18th, Sony Pictures' Olympus Has Fallen rose to the top of both the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts. This thriller proved the more durable of 2013's two White House-centric actioners; the film was a hit with audiences, grossing over $161 million worldwide on top of a $70 million budget as opposed to the costlier White House Down's $131 million gross.
