Warner Archive, in association with Hammer Films, is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Terence Fisher's Dracula (1958), starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Michael Gough, Melissa Stribling, and Carol Marsh. The releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 27.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

On August 16th, 2011, Lions Gate brings director Robert Redford's politically charged drama The Conspirator to Blu-ray. Utilizing a talented cast including James McEvoy (Wanted), Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda), and Robin Wright (Forrest Gump), Redford tells the story of the trial of Mary Surratt, the only woman implicated in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

20th Century Fox has released a new theatrical trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes starring James Franco. The reboot is being directed by Hollywood newbie Rupert Wyatt and will feature appearances by John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Tom Felton, and Andy Serkis. The film opens August 5th.

In an early announcement to retailers, Kino Video have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray Russian director Sergei Eisenstein's (Battleship Potemkin) Stachka a.k.a Strike (1925). Newly remastered, Strike is the earliest Russian-Soviet film included among the '1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die', edited by Steven Jay Schneider. Street date is August 30th.

HBO and Warner Home Entertainment will bring the second season of the comedy "Bored to Death" to Blu-ray. Jason Schwartzman (Fantastic Mr. Fox) stars as Jonathan Ames, a frustrated writer moonlighting as a private eye. The second season finds Ames coping with his second novel's failure; Ted Danson ("Cheers") and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) co-star as Ames' best friends. Update: This Blu-ray has been delayed until October 4th.

In its first week of release Disney's Gnomeo & Juliet bowed on top of the Blu-ray sales chart with 36% of total package media sales coming from the HD format. Gnomeo, finished its domestic box office run with a total just under $100 million and managed to topple last week's Blu-ray sales champ The Mechanic from the No. 1 sales spot.

German distributors Kinowelt are set to release Ralph Nelson's classic Western Soldier Blue (1970), starring Candice Bergen (Live for Life), Peter Strauss (TV's The Jericho Mile), Donald Pleasence (Escape from New York). From XLrator Media comes John Carpenter's The Ward on Blu-ray. A psychological horror film about a young woman (Amber Heard, Drive Angry) terrorized in a mental institution, The Ward is Carpenter's first theatrically released film since 1998's Ghosts of Mars. Warner Home Entertainment begins transitioning their beloved Looney Tunes characters onto high-def with this year's release of Space Jam on Blu-ray. In the film, which combines live action and animated footage, some of Termite Terrace's biggest stars team up with sports legend Michael Jordan to defeat an alien slave driver's intergalactic basketball team. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of Paul Greengrass' Academy Award-nominated United 93. A verite look at the 9/11 tragedy, told primarily through the perspective of the doomed United Flight 93 passengers, the film will street on September 6th, 2011. Universal has not released further information on the disc, so no word as to whether or not it will retain the same specs and features as the 2-disc DVD edition.
