20th Century Fox has officially announced that the summer superhero flick X-Men: First Class will hit Blu-ray on September 9th (a Friday release). The Blu-ray will give consumers a choice between two covers, one featuring Charles Xavier and his young mutant students and the other featuring Magneto and Sebastian Shaw's followers.
X-Men: First Class hit theaters last month to positive reviews. The reboot centers on a young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) as they organize a team of mutants to stop Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) from instigating the Cuban Missile Crisis. January Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Bryne, Jennifer Lawrence and Oliver Platt also star.
To promote the film, Fox will be giving away Xavier and Magneto t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans to pre-order the DVD or Blu-ray during this week's Comic-Con (July 21-24). This method will get you the film at the reduced price of $25 for the Blu-ray and $18 for the DVD. This can be done at booth #4313 or online at FoxConnect.com.
In addition to special features included on the disc, Fox will also include ten X-Men digital comics. The comics feature an all new backstory, and will be redeemable with unique codes in the packaging. The complete list of special features includes:
