One Night Only Collector's Edition 4K Blu-ray

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray Will Gluck's romantic dramedy One Night Only (2026), starring Monica Barbaro, Callum Turner, Bobby Cannavale, Molly Ringwald, and LeVar Burton. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Lars von Trier's Melancholia Gets UK Release Date

Independent British distributors Artificial Eye have revealed that they will release on Blu-ray controversial Danish director Lars von Trier's Melancholia (2011), starring Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Charlotte Rampling, and Kiefer Sutherland. The film is set to arrive in shops across the UK on January 23.

Le Samourai Blu-ray

French distributors Pathe are set to release on Blu-ray Jean-Pierre Melville's classic gangster film Le Samourai (1967), starring Alain Delon, François Périer, Jacques Leroy, and Nathalie Delon. Technical specs and region coding status for this release are unknown at the moment, but the preliminary release date set by the distributors is December 7th.

Heavenly Creatures Blu-ray

In an early retail announcement, Lionsgate has indicated plans to release the Miramax catalog title Heavenly Creatures on Blu-ray. Director Peter Jackson's critically acclaimed drama stars Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road) and Melanie Lynskey (Away We Go) as two teenage friends whose intense fantasy life leads them to murderous extremes. Heavenly Creatures is expected to street on December 13th.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Blu-rays Scheduled for 2012

Startrek.com has announced that CBS and Paramount will give Star Trek: The Next Generation its Blu-ray debut in early 2012. A sampler disc containing three remastered episodes will hit stores in January followed by a Season One set to be released later in the year. The sampler disc, titled Star Trek: The Next Generation- The Next Level has been priced at $21.99.

The First Nudie Musical Blu-ray

This November, Kritzerland Records will bring The First Nudie Musical to Blu-ray. The cult musical-comedy focuses on movie producer Harry Schechter (Stephen Nathan, executive producer of Fox's Bones) who must create a successful "nudie musical" in order to save his production company. Co-starring Cindy Williams (American Graffiti), the 35th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray of The First Nudie Musical streets on November 5th.

Stars and Stripes Forever Blu-ray

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Stars and Stripes Forever on Blu-ray this December. Director Henry Koster's 1952 biopic stars Clifton Webb (Laura) as world-renowned composer John Philip Sousa, whose early days conducting the United States Marine Corps Marching Band eventually led to the creation of both his Sousa Band and the "Stars and Stripes Forever" march. The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack streets on December 13th.

French distributors Gaumont have revealed that they are planning to a number of classic films on Blu-ray in early 2012, among them Henri Decoin's The Iron Mask (1962), Jacques Becker's The Adventures of Arsène Lupin (1957), and Claude Autant-Lara's The Story of the Count of Monte Cristo (1961).

The First Beautiful Thing Blu-ray

Palisades Tartan will release on Blu-ray Italian director Paolo Virzì's The First Beautiful Thing (2010), starring Valerio Mastandrea and Stefania Sandrelli. Earlier this year, the film was selected to represent Italy in the Foreign Language Film Category at the 83nd Academy Awards. Street date is January 17th.

'Star Wars' and 'Thor' Drive Blu-ray to a New Sales Record

Star Wars keeps making news for the Blu-ray format as its successful release, along with the smashing debut of Thor, have led to a new weekly Blu-ray revenue share record. For week ending 9/17/11, Blu-ray's market share of total package media sales was an all time best 35%. The new mark bested the previous record of 27% established on week ending 4/17/11.

Palisades Tartan have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray acclaimed Korean director Kim Ki-Duk's The Coast Guard (2002), starring Jang Dong-Kun, Kim Jeong-Hak, Park Ji-A, and Yu Hae-Jin. In 2003, the film won FIPRESCI Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Street date is January 17th.

Notable titles include Quadrophenia, Being John Malkovich, Putney Swope, The Rock, and Belle de jour; their festival inclusion suggests future Criterion Blu-ray releases.
