In an early announcement to retailers, the UK branch of Sony Pictures has revealed that it will release on Blu-ray director Roland Emmerich's (Independence Day, 2012) Anonymous (2011), starring Rhys Ifans, Vanessa Redgrave, David Thewlis, and Rafe Spall. The preliminary release date set by the studio is March 5th.
Set in the political snake-pit of Elizabethan England, Anonymous speculates on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and brilliant minds ranging from Mark Twain and Charles Dickens to Henry James and Sigmund Freud, namely: who was the author of the plays credited to William Shakespeare?
