Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

Directed by Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces), this gritty adventure stars Liam Neeson (Taken) as a security consultant who tries to lead a group of oil roughnecks to safety after a plane crash leaves them stranded in the Alaskan wilderness. The Grey streets on May 15th.

Next month, Twilight Time will bring both Désirée and Bell, Book, and Candle to Blu-ray. Désirée is director Henry Koster's 1954 screen adaptation of the Annemarie Selinko novel, while Bell, Book, and Candle finds director Richard Quine (Paris When It Sizzles) concocting a fantasy-comedy about a free-spirited witch living in modern-day New York. Désirée and Bell, Book, and Candle street on April 10th.

David Fincher's sleek The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo reimagining arrives this Tuesday; while the film enjoyed modest box-office success, it also found itself the subject of public scrutiny. Many critics argued that Fincher's take on the material never properly distinguished itself, that it was just a big-budget redo of a story that Stieg Larsson's original novel and Niels Arden Oplev's subsequent adaptation more-than adequately covered.

Filmed in 1972 at London's Rainbow theatre, this feature film, which was recently scanned and restored by Pinewood Studios Post Production, was released theatrically in the UK the following year with a quadrophonic sound track. After much speculation, the Criterion Collection has posted their full roster of Blu-ray releases for June 2012. Titles include Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush, Danny Boyle's Shallow Grave, Steven Soderbergh's Gray's Anatomy & And Everything Is Going Fine, Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, Hiroshi Inagaki's Samurai Trilogy, and Hal Ashby's Harold and Maude, which was pushed back from April.

Warner Bros. have just released the first official trailer for Dark Shadows. Director Tim Burton's screen interpretation of the cult horror-soap opera stars Johnny Depp (Sleepy Hollow) as Barnabas Collins, a vampire who emerges from a two-hundred-year slumber in order to lay claim to Collinwood Manor and his once-proud family estate. Epic combat dominated the week ending on 03/11/2012; Twentieth Century Fox's action-adventure Immortals secured the top figures on both overall package media and Blu-ray-only sales charts. Last November, the picture saw modest success - not surprising, given Immortals' R-rating - and it grossed over $83 million domestically on top of its $75 million budget.

BFI launches The John Cassavetes Collection

Five films by American filmmaker John Cassavetes – the spiritual father of the independent film scene – will have their worldwide Blu-ray premiere this year, with the release of Dual Format Editions by the BFI. The John Cassavetes Collection is launched on 23 April with his ground-breaking debut feature Shadows (1959) and Faces (1968) starring Gena Rowlands.
