Universal Studios Home Entertainment will bring The Five-Year Engagement to Blu-ray in August. This romantic comedy reunites Jason Segel (The Muppets) with his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller for a story about Tom and Violet (Segel and Emily Blunt, The Devil Wears Prada), a seemingly happy couple who find their engagement tested by the demands of their various life choices.
When Violet receives an offer to study at a prestigious Midwestern graduate school, the couple puts their wedding on hold until after her program ends. However, as Violet continues to excel, Tom begins to feel as if his own career ambitions are no longer valid, a resentment that leads the two to doubt their future together.
Update: Universal's Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack presents two versions of the film: the 125-minute theatrical cut and a new, 132-minute unrated cut. Both iterations come in their 1.85:1 original aspect ratio with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks.
