Gwendoline Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray

Severin Films has dated and detailed its upcoming Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray release of Just Jaeckin's Gwendoline (1984), starring Tawny Kitaen, Brent Huff, Zabou Breitman, Bernadette Lafont, and Jean Rougerie. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on November 24.

Blu-ray Sales: August 16-22: Project Hail Mary Grabs Achilles' Heel in Week Two

For the week that ended on August 22nd, Alliance Entertainment's Project Hail Mary topped the Blu-ray-only, overall packaged media and 4K UHD charts for the second week in a row. Second place went to Troy, which was released on remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD by Arrow Video, while third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Obsession (2025).

This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Official Teaser for The Master (Updated)

The Weinstein Company has just released another teaser from their upcoming The Master. This drama stars Joaquin Phoenix (Walk the Line) as a troubled drifter who, following his military discharge, falls under the spell of the charismatic founder (Philip Seymour Hoffman, Magnolia) of a mysterious religious organization. The Master's limited U.S. release date is October 12th. Updated with official theatrical trailer.

More Catalog Titles From Olive Films in October

Independent distributors Olive Films have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray five more catalog titles: Max Ophuls' Letter from an Unknown Woman (1948), Jules Dassin's Up Tight! (1968) Robert Wise's Three Secrets (1950), Alan J. Pakula's The Sterile Cuckoo (1969), and Sydney Pollack's The Slender Thread (1965). Street date is October 16th.

Monster Pictures Expand in the UK

Monster Pictures, the genre distribution label that brought the controversial Human Centipede films to the UK, announced today that it will be expanding its distribution plans for the UK. Titles from Monster Pictures will be distributed in the UK by Eureka Entertainment.

This popular crime procedural focuses on a forensics specialist (Emily Deschanel, Glory Road) and her FBI liaison (David Boreanaz, Angel) as they investigate strange homicide cases. Report: 'Lawrence of Arabia' box set due November 14th (Updated)

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is yet to officially announce its highly anticipated Blu-ray release of David Lean's epic Lawrence of Arabia (1962), but the Los Angeles Times already has a preliminary date for it. The newspaper reported today that "the restored Lawrence of Arabia will have a nationwide theatrical release on Oct. 4, with a Blu-ray box set due Nov. 14." Update: Sony has confirmed the street date as November 13th.

Two Studio Ghibli Films Heading to the UK

Studio Canal have revealed that they are preparing Dual Format editions of Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro (1988) and Isao Takahata's Grave of the Fireflies (1988). The two editions will be available for purchase online and in shops across the United Kingdom on November 12th.

Studio Canal Acquires Australia’s Hoyts Distribution

French giant Studio Canal has acquired the distribution arm of Australia's Hoyts Group, Hoyts Distribution, a leading independent film distributor in Australia and New Zealand. Under the new deal, which was announced on Tuesday, Studio Canal will acquire 100 percent of the local distributor.

In the fall, Warner Home Entertainment is expected to bring the 30th Anniversary Edition of Blade Runner to Blu-ray. Director Ridley Scott's reimagining of the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep stars Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures) as a disenchanted Blade Runner who hunts genetically engineered organic robots in Los Angeles, circa 2019. The 30th Anniversary Edition streets on October 23rd.

Kino Lorber's October 2012 Blu-ray Slate

Independent film distributor Kino Lorber has issued its Blu-ray slate for October 2012. Releases are arranged through Kino's different distribution branches - Kino Classics, Kino Lorber, and Redemption Films. The October titles include The Lina Wertmüller Collection, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and Jess Franco's Exorcism.

Criterion Blu-ray in October: Kar-wai, Marston, Schlesinger, Polanski

After much speculation, the Criterion Collection has posted their full roster of Blu-ray releases for October 2012. Titles include Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love, Joshua Marston's The Forgiveness of Blood, John Schlesinger's Sunday Bloody Sunday, and Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby. Of those four films, In the Mood for Love is the only previously available Criterion entry receiving a Blu-ray upgrade.

DreamWorks Animation Working on a Distribution Deal With Sony

According to an unidentified source quoted by Reuters, DreamWorks Animation is apparently discussing a new distribution deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment. DreamWorks' current distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures expires later this year. Last month, DreamWorks' Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted opened in theaters across the U.S.

This week sees the Blu-ray release of Lockout. The latest film from producer/writer Luc Besson's B-movie action stable Lockout attempts to present a nearly full-scale replica of John Carpenter's 1981 cult favorite Escape from New York; swap out "futuristic Manhattan" for "futuristic space prison" and "The President" for "The President's daughter," and the two thrillers become almost identical.
