This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

Raro Video to Release Classic Roberto Rossellini Film

Independent distributors Raro Video USA have confirmed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray Italian director Roberto Rossellini's Il generale della Rovere (1959), starring Vittorio De Sica, Hannes Messemer, and Sandra Milo. The release, which will contain the Director's Cut and Theatrical Version of the film, is set to arrive on the market in September.

Universal Announces Pitch Perfect Sequel, Release Date for Fast & Furious 7

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of Shaft (2000), director John Singleton's action-packed sequel to the original 1971 cult classic of the same name. The Criterion Collection has announced five titles for Blu-ray release in July. On July 9th, the studio will release Kenji Mizoguchi's The Life of Oharu. On July 16th, it will release Peter Brook's Lord of the Flies. On July 23rd, it will release Gabriel Axel's Babette's Feast and Ang Lee's The Ice Storm. And on July 30th, it will release The Devil's Backbone.
