This Week on Blu-ray: August 31-September 6

For the week of August 31st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release 28 Days Later on 4K UHD. New releases include the anime series Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc (2025) from Crunchyroll and Dry Leaf from Cinema Guild. Catalog titles on Blu-ray include Ten Women in Black and The Magnificent Cuckold from Radiance Films, while catalog titles on 4K UHD include The Hot Spot from Radiance and Tekkonkinkreet from Shout Factory and GKIDS.

Scream Factory and Shout Factory have announced their November batch of releases. They are: The Chow Yun-Fat Collection Volume One, The Family Man (2000), Women in Prison Collection (1971-1985), and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Ice Cream Man 4K Blu-ray

Alliance Entertainment is preparing 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026), starring Ari Millen, Charlie Zeltzer, Shiloh O'Reilly, Sarah Abbott, and Benjamin Byron Davis. The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market on October 20.

The Rock 30th Anniversary 4K Blu-ray

20th Century Studios is preparing a combo pack release of Peter Weir's Dead Poets Society (1989), starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles, and Gale Hansen. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on September 29.

The World's End Trailer

Universal Pictures has released the first theatrical trailer for writer/director Edgar Wright's The World's End, which reunites the filmmaker with his Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz lead actors, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and co-stars Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, Paddy Considine and Rosamund Pike. The alien invasion action-comedy is set to arrive in U.S. theaters on August 23rd.

Universal Music Details First 36 Blu-ray Audio Titles

Next week, beginning on May 13th, Universal Music will release its first 36 Blu-ray Audio titles under the High Fidelity Pure Audio banner. Each title will feature PCM, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio 96kHz/24bit audio tracks, and include a coupon to download MP3 or FLAC versions of the tracks for play on portable media devices.

British distributors Entertainment One and Momentum Pictures have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray Jake Schreier's latest film Robot & Frank (2012), starring Frank Langella, Liv Tyler, Peter Sarsgaard, and Susan Sarandon. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is July 15th.

Kids on the Slope Blu-ray Replacement Program

Sentai Filmworks has responded to recent complaints concerning an audio issue that affects limited copies of the Kids on the Slope Blu-ray release, and announced a replacement program to assist affected consumers. The anime distributor has also issued a recall, with the intent of eliminating the problem completely.
